Main Menu Invisible Error
I started up my game the first time and it ran fine. I didnt get to play a game but I wanted to make sure it downloaded fine. I came back to it to find that each time I open it, the main menu is blank with no options. The menu is invisible and moved far right and down. (I found this by hearing clicking and when I hovered my cursor over there the descriptions would pop up.) Does anyone know how to stop this? I am left with a the regular menu screen with music and background animation but no options. Thank you
I tried uninstalling and that didnt work and have also restarted my PC

When you want to reset the graphics options, easiest to do that is to delete these files from My Documents/My Games:
  • AppOptions.txt
  • GraphicsOptions.txt

If you want to reset all options, also delete these files from the same folder:
  • SoundOpts.txt
  • UserOptions.txt

After that, verify game files using the Steam client and then launch the game again.

It sounds like a graphics problem, try to reset the graphics resolution of the game or change to a different resolution.
Also try downloading a new graphics driver for your graphic's card if you are using one.

Thank you for sharing this solution! I couldn't figure out what was going on, but deleting these files took care of the issue.

I currently have this problem but those files are not in the folder pointed out, all that is there is cache, dumps, logs, mods, moduserdata, packageddumps, package temp, saves, and hall of fame. already tried reinstalling, any other suggestions?

Yes, as of the last update the location of all settings, cache, etc. has moved to local AppData. Saves and mods have remained in the My Documents\My Games folder.
My best bet on the reason for this, is Windows changes and/or MS pushing harder and harder to have all your files on OneDrive, which means it will mess with locked files like settings.

Anyway, they have moved.
Open Windows explorer and put this in the address bar:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI

Hit enter, and there are your config files. The rest of the solution remains the same. The actual files have not changed.

happened to me when I changed my res to my TV. I simply plugged the TV in and changed the resolution there back to the laptop's.

Hey - I have similar problem, I removed those files and it didn't help. What's worse - another workaround suggested to manually change values in one of the files (GraphicOptions.txt) but since I no longer have any of them so I'm unable to introduce these changes.
Did anyone find another solution to this issue? :)

apparently the challenge of the month is giving menu errors, this mod fixed the problem for me for some reason.

Na, the challenge isn't giving menu errors. Other mods are chaning the main menu, and haven't updated yet. Causing the main menu to not be visible after it was updated. So loading a mod that basically returns the main menu to before the update, makes sure the other mods work again and thus the main menu is displayed again.

Since they now announced monthly challenges, this mod will make sure one does not have access to that. I'd rather opt for the version where you find out which mod is causing the menu disappear and resolve that.

Installing that Mod actually works. I tried all of the other steps and I play without Mods so it could not have been a conflicting Mod issue. I was able to without issue until this first challenge ended. The challenge is still trying to load which causes the menu to fail. Until Firaxis actually bothers to fix this use the Mod to remove the challenge if you wish to play.
