Keyboard lighting ...
I have an alienware keyboard with backlighting and I am trying to figure out how to stop the games ability to change my lighting... I looked in my alienware stuff and can't find anything. Is there a fix to this... when playing as japan it is flashing white and driving me insane

I found the "enable 3rd party access to AlienFX" even when it is unchecked the game still changes the lighting.

This has been a known issue over 3 months now. I see threads on both Reddit & the Dell Alienware community. Back in january a moderator in the Dell Group said he wanted to "escalate this with engineering", but there's nothing since beyond other users saying "me too"
I just found out about this yesterday when I got a new M17 so I could play Civ on a decent machine, and was annoyed as hell when I started the game & the screen started flashing.
BTW, a new version of Alien FX was issued after the above post, still the same issue - the new version takes away the "enable 3rd party access" button.
For those that don't know, Alien FX is supposed to change the color of the keyboard in accordance with the Civ you're playing with.

edit - when i said "screen" above i meant keyboard flashing
Is there an option to turn off keyboard lighting entirely?

yes, and that is the only option - but kind of defeats the purpose. I'll generally play in a dimly lit room, so would want some amount of backlighting - but not flashing
