64 bit is required. Win 10 is not required.
If you are on a 32 bit version of Windows it is why. Else I have no idea.
Same here on 16193 64-bit. Was working fine the day before, but now it's an "invalid platform" after the update.
Because your computer can't run it, you need a 64 bit computer to do it, My Windows 8.1 64 bit Alienware can run it, the only way my 32 bit Laptop can run it is I have to stream it through my 64 bit Alienware.
1. 2K Games refuses to look into this, blaming Windows Insider release.
2. Microsoft Insiders feedback ticket is open and a bug has been created, awaiting feedback.
3. Strongly suspect this is a problem with how 2K Games set up their version compatibilty checking in Steam since this is only affecting folks playing this game on Steam.
That's how things stand currently.
I find your wording rather strange. There is no blaming and there is no problem with version checking.
Currently MS released a new beta version of Windows. Either that has a bug (not really strange for beta software) or it has a change with how it presents its platform and version information to software.
So then there is no problem with how Civ6 checks which platform is used (it works on current stable releases). It might need a change according to upcoming changes (assuming it is not a bug, but an actual documented change for how Windows presents information). If the latter, it will be addressed in a patch of course. Either by Steam (since that is also capable of providing platform information to games) or Firaxis/2K.
