The majority of players for Civ 5 and 6 are bots.
I am not crazy, I've studied the steam charts for both, looked at similar games, other popular long running games, and the definition of the peaks of activity for both do not make sense. I can elaborate but I wanna know if there are others who noticed this.

Nope, I've been too busy playing Civ VI to notice.

You have 132 hours in Civ 5, and 100 hours in Civ 6. You've not even played either game in about a month. Why suddenly post here claiming majority of players are bots? Have we switched gears now from Data Mining to Players are Bots?

2K is a shady publisher, but I actually am not intending to insult or go against the devs, the games or 2K. I'm trying to stick to observable fact, and if you look at the charts for both games, there is something very strange going on.

Also, a good portion of the Civ 6 community/playerbase is from Asian countries, where bot use is very, very common.

So, uh ... why? Why would anyone use a bot to "play" this game? People usually only do that when there's something tradable to earn - and that isn't the case here. There's just no reason to run a bot; if you're playing this game, you're doing it for entertainment value that you wouldn't get with a bot.

Now, I admit that a good chunk of my hours in this game aren't me actively playing. There are times that I've just left the game open in the background for long stretches of time while I did other stuff. Including sleeping, when I first got the game - back then, there was a bug in the Mac version which caused frequent crashes when attempting to start or load into a game, so staying in a running game overnight was less frustrating than trying to load it up the next day.

As an AI dev civ in general is known to be used in ai experimentation because it incorporates many interesting problems in decision making in a format that's relatively easy to access since it's not real time. Not personally playing it much and not working on civ ais specifically no idea if they're in this version or not but it's worth keeping in mind that the premise is not unfounded.
Gee, I didn't know I was a bot

Heh, never seen a bot in my 2400 hours of playtime.

Now this might be one of those newfangled AI chat bots. That are now spreading like wildfire.

I checked Civ VI and none of the OP's assertions hold water. The day to day cycle is stable and very 'human' seeming, with an activity curve that shows the bulk of users are North American. The historical graph shows peaks coincident with content releases, and no unusual spikes in usage apart from occasional outages.
