Playing against bots is funny maybe three or four games. After that; what's the point ?
But I'm an introvert. After a long day at work, the last thing I want is more interaction with people. Especially people I don't know personally, in a game that takes hours -if not days - to finish.
By the way, I love how the game is set up so that I can play "multiplayer" completely solo.
My current favorite is play with a few friends on an Enormous map and fill out the remaining Civilization slots with bots on Immortal Difficulty.
It is much easier than trying to assemble players for a game online on the fly and you play with people you know and have similar interests in the game. It is one way that I use to stay in touch with other on line gamers.
And, we play on Marthon Speed with the draws for the players coming from pool of Civs that are agreed upon.
Everything is flexible and leads to many sessions of very enjoyable online gaming. I have reconnected with a number of ole online friends this way.
Good Luck and Good Gaming.
But if solo play is the only way you can play, play what you want but realize that there is so much more to experience with MultiPlayer.
The game works remarkably well however you choose to configure the set up and rules set.
Good Gaming.
