Any other fun strategy games to recommend?
I'm getting a bit tired of Civilization VI. Are there any similar time-killing strategy games? I also really like HOMM, Pennon and Battle -style strategy games.
Plus, this year both Civilization and HOMM have new releases, and Pennon and Battle will also have a lot of updates. Just can't wait to try them lol

I prefer Civilization 4 and Alpha Centauri to Civ 6.

You might be interested in Imperialism and Imperialism 2, if you can get past their age.

Crusader Kings II is free on steam. Check out some game play on youtube to see if works for you.
Total war games are interesting though exactly how much you get to build in your city varies by game title.

Endless Legends is good fun. Similar to Civ but with a whole lot more assymetry.
Dependent on you liking fantastical settings, but if you enjoys HOMM, you'll be golden!

Too much of a one trick pony and short on replayability. Also to many of the player races are really just a bare bones reskin in which almost nothing is changed except the appearance and a few names here and there. That being said the graphics are really good almost good enough in fact to make the problems tolerable.

Millennia
Humankind

If you don't mind grand strategy games and can catch all the DLCs on sale, Stellaris is an excellent game.

The only barebone reskin in case of Endless Legend I know of, is Mezari and Vaulters (what was intentional). Else the factions differ a lot, resulting in asymmetrical gameplay and high replayability - what especially is the strength of Endless Legend. So, not sure, how you come to your conclusion at all.

Back to topic. I strongly recommend Old World (what also offers a demo). In case you like space settings, you should check out Endless Space 2, too.
