Civ VI Update Killed My Saved Games
The latest Civ VI update wiped out all game saves on my oled Steamdeck.

So instead of relaxing with some Civ like I was really looking forward to, maybe I'll ponder deleting it, instead.

Thanks!

I had version mismatch after switching off of proton experimental. I forced it again and this fixed my version issue. You should see version 1.0.12.68 instead of 1.0.12.9 at the main menu.

Are you guys all on Linux? I haven't had a Civ update on Windows (at least not an update that wasn't a mod updating) in months.

Yup. I lost access to DLC and my saves on my Steam Deck.

It might not have banished them completely; it might just have created new folders so that the old ones aren't checked. My system (Mac), for example, has all that user stuff in (user)/Library/Application Support/Sid Meier's Civilization VI. The /Mods and /Saves folders in there, created in the original installation, do nothing. You want the real mods and saves? Those are in (user)/Library/Application Support/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/Sid Meier's Civilization VI, the /Mods and /Saves folders there. Some later update made that change, and I have no idea why.

(Steam Workshop mods are in a different place, (user)/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/(number). And each mod gets a numbered folder in there, so you can't tell which mod is which without actually going into those subfolders. Annoying.)

So, basically, if you can browse your file structure, you might be able to find your old mods and saves and move them to the new folders.

Same thing happened to me, all saves gone. Can't seem to find them anywhere in my files, great job Firaxis.

same problem, pay a lot money for all stuff in game, then pay another amount of money for Steamdeck and in the end face such kind of problem

same here steam deck saves gone

SOLUTION HERE: on the deck, go to game properties, compatibility, and force it to run under proton (linux is default).
It will download some GBs, but at the end Leader pass is back, so also all the savegames.

You are welcome!
