Religion Flipping
I am X religion. The AI have pressing their religion.

If I make a Let's say missionary it's a follower of the AI's religion. So I use it it spreads the AI religion.

I want to spread mine. Nothing I've done will spread mine.

Everything I do spreads theirs. If that makes sense.

You need a cathedral in a city of yours that is majority your religion not theirs note check the city information screen under religion you can figure out when your city is going to flip back to your religion and build them. Otherwise your best and probably only bet is to go conquer the AI civ if you can.

You gotta see what is the majority religion in that city. If it's X, then your missionary will be of an X religion. If it's something like say Catholicism, then the missionaries will spread Catholicism.

You don't need a Cathedral
Either a shrine for missionaries, or temple for apostles.

If none or your cities are dominant in your religion, I'm 95% sure that the mahabodi temple wonder will spawn two apostles of your original religion. It must be built by you though, capturing it doesn't work.

Don't know I've never got an apostle without a cathedral save the one you get for stonehenge. Dont know about the others as I've never built those without 1st getting the two apostle to finish my religion.

You are referring to Great Prophets, maybe?

Cathedrals have a slot for a religious GW.

You are talking about Great Prophets, not apostles, right? Those are for founding the religion, not spreading it ^^

Yes that's my problem. I want to turn the religion to the one I picked. Everything I spawn spread that religion that the AI is pushing on me.

Seems silly you spawn guys that aren't your religion. And all they do it spread everyone else's but yours.

Sounds like the Reformation. Enjoy and good gaming.

Religious units inherit the religion that is dominant in the city in which they’re trained at the time they they are purchased.

:messagebottle: Religious victory would be an incredibly-worse game of whack-a-mole if a defender could (for example) spam inquisitors and immediately flip a city back with no possible counter from the attacker short of “have many times the number of units and flip them last and entirely within one turn,” extirpate the civ militarily .... or abandon a religious victory entirely.
