i think i need help , 4K with bad performance
When the game first opens and enters the game map, the frame rate is very stable and smooth. However, after a few rounds of loading, the frame rate gradually declines, ultimately dropping from 60 frames to around 17 frames, regardless of whether it's using DX11 or DX12.

my GPU is RTX 4080 , CPU is 7800X3D , 64GB RAM

When testing the game's performance, it was found that both CPU and GPU usage were very low, but memory usage was extremely high, which is quite strange. :steamthis:

I am playing 1920x1080, no issues there at all. Can't tell for 4k though.

My personal first thoughts were, "Ew, a 4080". The 4080 has, uh... issues... Running 1440p, it's exceptional. Handles Ultra settings like an absolute champ. 4k? 60 FPS max on medium settings. Ray Tracing? :meepdrool::meepdrool::meepdrool:

Run the game in 1440p, and you should be golden.

Just curious, why do you want to run the game in 4k, only because your gfx card and monitor are capable? Like I said earlier, imho even 1080p is fine and if you can play 1440p I guess that's more than great.

did i do anything wrong ? Why am I being blamed? My screen is 4K, so to achieve basic HD, is it wrong for me to set the game to native 4K? jesus , the issue belongs to game , not me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :steamthis:

It should't. You're running an RTX 4080 with an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. It should be running like a champ. I wonder if your issue is similar to someone else's about a week ago.

Go to the "Workshop" tab at the top, and in the search bar at the right, type: Builder / Military Engineer Lag Fix

Try using that mod and see if it fixes your lag / frame rate issues.

Builders can also cause issues for some reason. IF it's the same issue as the other person's, then yes it should.

Edit: By the way, you're able to run other games just fine without any lag / frame rate issues?

Ok, I'm late to this discussion, but I'll put in my two cents. First, this game is roughly a decade old at this point, and although it has received continuous updates that can still cause issues.

If the GPU was not struggling, then the game speed was not being throttled by some overanxious graphics subroutine. If the CPU was not struggling, the problem wouldn't have been the AI having trouble making a decision. But this game is extremely frugal with memory (as suits a game designed for PCs sold ten years ago); I've pushed this thing to its limits (without using mods), and never gotten it to use more than 8 GB of RAM. It should not be using up all your memory!

I'm wondering if maybe the game is causing your machine to "thrash": the situation where the OS no longer has physical RAM available for the app, and so is resorting to virtual RAM by using your long-term storage device. That would certainly cause tremendous slowdowns. The thing is, Civ VI is a very well-debugged product at this point; it really doesn't have any memory leaks.

Can I ask, are you using any mods, or running the game using any unusual tools? Something unusual must be happening to cause the game to consume unlimited amounts of memory...
