Platinum or Anthology Edition?
Used to play a lot of Civilization V, but stopped when I found Endless Legend back in 2018 I think.

I passed up the Platinum Edition for Civ. VI from Humble Monthly/Choice too, because Civilization felt incredibly basic after playing something like Endless Legend.

Anyways, six years later and am thinking about Civ. VI. I tried the demo a while ago, but eh. The game is on a good sale right now.

Should I buy Civilization VI or stick with V? If I buy, which should I spend money on? All the DLC are pretty much Mixed or worse.

The individual DLCs, aside from the two large expansions, just don't have very much stuff in them. That's probably why they don't get good ratings, and that's also why people will recommend the bundles (when they're on sale).

The "Platinum" bundle includes the two large expansions and a number of the early DLCs. All the major mechanics are there.
The "Anthology" bundle includes everything. And nearly all of what it adds over "Platinum" are more civs and leaders. There are a lot of DLC leaders.

Anthology get you everything except Julius Caesar and the cat (instead of dogs) scouts, but those you can get by linking to a 2K account. Also, you can get a good deal on anthology when it's on sale.

Are the DLC leaders worth it if I got everything?

Yeah, that's why I'm asking.

Definitely not paying even full price for the base game. :P I'm just trying to figure out what's worth it. I've heard the expansions are worth it themselves, but what about all the other Leaders?

Like, for example, Phoenix Point has some DLC but apparently they're so bad or make the game so difficult or are so unbalanced with the flow of the game, people recommend to disable them all and just play base. :D:

None of the DLC are actively bad or warp the game too much. As long as you don't activate the "game modes" all the time - some of those seriously change things up. But those are check boxes in game creation, so turning them on and off as desired is easy.

It is worth it to me. I got the anthology. Because of this, I got the New Leaders Pass for free. I also got it because I wanted everything.

Neither. This game's DLCs are always pretty much click more things to unlock more things to click on. No new mechanics it's just new UI that pops up where you make a choice on what to click one after another.

AI is lame as heck and you'll find many people share the same sentiment. Okay, AI is bad I should play with people right? Nope. 0 leaderboard people leave when they fall behind you'll spend more time looking for a decent session in multiplayer than actually playing it. (no dedicated servers either).

Civ 5 was peak and 6 has pretty much 0 things that innovated it. Looks like Civ 7 is the same game as well with just slightly better visual (still ugly) and 1 new mechanic which is field commander but they want to charge you 70 USD for one mechanic change and day 1 DLC.

Lmao

Exactly some of the DLC's (civilization packs) added the game modes (like monopolies and corporations).

With the sale right now, I suggest Anthology Edition. Everything in one package und you can't make a mistake buying at this low price.
