Civ 5 or 6?
I like the graphics of 6, but keep seeing new comers should start at 5. Should I just go straight to 6? I want to just focus on one.

the look of graphics , is one of the most hated feature of CIV6 , so , just go for 6 .
ppls who are saying to u V is better than VI is just about nostalgia , if i go for this attitude , i recommend u the 4th .
So , if u like the graphs and are able to get the major DLC's , go straight for CIV VI , its an amazing game .

And after all , CIV VI will prep u more for the VII than V can do .

enjoy this franchise dude , its crack

Each civ game is a a different game in ways great and small from it's predecessors. None prepares you for the next because the mechanics change.

Civ 6 is wonderful provided you have all the DLC

5 with all dlc is more chess like than civ 6 with all dlc. That having been said I LOVE the modes added for 6, random tech tree, zombies, tribal clans, etc is just too amazing of a set of features to pass on. Civ6 full dlc is the best civ experience by far, especially if you like randomness and dynamics, the older civs dont even come close.

Civ 5 is a MUCH simpler game. That being said, being a simpler game the AI is actually quite a bit better at it.

IMO, Firaxis didn't put nearly enough work into improving the AI to keep up with the complexity and choices available to players in 6.

Either way, you'll want the newest expansion in both whichever you choose. (and really, wait for one of the sales where you get EVERYTHING for cheap, those have been around for both games for quite a while)

Civ V most recent expansion: Brave New World
Civ VI most recent expansion: Gathering Storm

Note that there are newer DLC for both probably, but the expansions are what determine the main rulesets of the games.

I personally liked the gfx style of 5 better, but I prefer the gameplay of 6.

There is a sale again right now with ~90% off, so I guess most pleople can afford even the anthology. Six months can be a long time :steamhappy:

Oh yeah, I guess you're right.
It will be a long time ^^ I'm so hyped now !

Op : Go for civ 6 then, it's much better than 5.

civ6 = civ4+BtS > civ5 IMHO.

Civ 5 is the middle ground between too simple and too complex;

Edit: I mean Civ4 is simple enough that the AI has half a chance, while Civ6 has the more interesting strategy.

you can start with civ 6 immediately. it is not necessary to "practice" with civ 5 beforehand. I can say this because I have played several thousand hours in both 😎

Civ VI is buggy as hell. Throws some memory errors. Errors writing to RAM. Some of them I have never seen. It crashes. When I am not happy with the progress and restarting - it locks up. Not worth the money - even with 90% discount.

lol, i'd say almost no one sees what you are seeing. I have had exactly one crash ever, in over 2000 hours of playtime.

And it never throws any errors, ever. EVER.

Uh no playing civ V to practice for civ vi is like trying to learn to drive a car by riding on a train.

It wasn't like this before. It's undeniable that Civ VI is currently plagued with bugs. I've been playing it for years without any problems. But ever since the new Civ was unveiled, Civ VI has become unplayable. What changes have they made? I don't want to imply that they're sabotaging Civ VI to force us to buy Civ VII, but that's certainly how it feels, because it's hard to believe this is just a coincidence...
