I just got this weird error that my account does not meet the legal age requirements to play Civ VI multiplayer games (that I have already been playing for YEARS). I have two games that I am in RIGHT NOW that I need to take my turns.

I have literally been playing Civ VI since it came out and I have played every version of Sid Meir's Civilization for many decades. Do I have to be as old as a 2024 presidential candidate before I can play again?

It doesn't tell me what exactly *is* the linked account nor does it offer any help on *how* to contact customer support.

What is going on? How can I fix this?

Looking around on the Internet, this seems to be a problem other people are having too. Some people say unlinking their account helped.

So how old one has to be? over 60?! :steammocking:
What 2k account?! Where I could find it?!

Check to make sure that your Steam account is online. That was my issue.

Every time i activate a 2K game i get it because i have my age as the first day of the year 1920 in my 2K account. It can take a few hours to a few days for them to reauthorize the account after i make a pita support ticket. It stinks i'm playing a game on steam on it happens and all of my 2K games get unathorized. Marvel's Midnight Suns that was free on Epic a few months ago was the latest. I'm thinking what i do to get around it when Civ VII comes out. Maybe make a new steam account and 2K account just for Civ.

Are you seriously suggesting to rebuy the game and manage two accounts just to be able to use the product as promised? o.O

I was wondering that too. Doesn't seem... Practical.

I said Civ VII. When i get Civ VII I'm thinking of trying somethings. Maybe i'll do a support ticket soon and see if they can alter my age to something reasonable but if it is possible you'd think they would have offered it. Yeah i know we are dealing with 2K.

Ah, gotcha, my bad.

I myself still wouldnt make an extra effort (like a 2nd acc) to "fix" their crappy setup. Either they offer a professional product and setup .. or they dont. No product, no (future) deal.

All I had to do was close the game entirely and then reload it and that fixed it

OK, I think I found a kinda-sorta workaround for this. When the loading screen comes up (and the only way this works is through the loading screen), use the drop down in the upper right to go to your account. It will load a webpage to the 2k site. Login completely there. Then immediately go to the loading screen and start Civilization VI. There does seem to be a timeout so if you don't launch it quickly enough, the error appears again. It will usually load up and you will be able to play multiplayer games again.

I really hope it gets fixed on the next patch so I don't have to keep doing this every time I play.
