How many turns per game are you playing?
Hey guys. I am pretty new to the civ franchise. I really like civ6 so far but i am wondering is playing 500 turns per game the standart? At like 350+ it starts to get really slow and complex.

Are you playing 300 turns? Or am i the only sick mind playing 500 turns haha. So i´d like to know that he majority of the playerbase is playing. thanks

Usually around 300-400 turns the game is pretty much over even on epic speed. Like, I'm researching a future tech and civic every turn.

Heck, it's usually hard to avoid a culture victory by that point.

Haven't played above Emperor though.

Also think epic is a good speed balance - marathon is a bit too slow for my taste, but quicker speeds make early war kinda hard and any war during industrial or later pretty pointless for awhile since you're usually only a dozen turns away from planes which the AI has no idea how to defend against.

500 is ok. can easily go to 1300 as I play only in Marathon game speed mode.

What sizes are talking about, more specifically? Is it YnAMP map sizes? Larger than the "enormous" one?
I wish I could play on much bigger maps, but it gets random crashes all over the place if I try larger maps than the enormous one.

Personally I used to play on bigger maps, but I realized I didn't interact with almost any of the map until the game was effectively over anyway. And if I wanted more space a standard map with less ai did the same thing but didn't make religious and conquest victory annoying.

Though religious victories against ai are basically cheating anyway lol

I play huge maps on Epic (750). Found a mod that has 1000 turns, been trying that out. Marathon is still too long.

how do u guys win so fast xD i usually win around 450 hahahha

On Standard speed? I question how you are making it to turn 450 on Standard speed without someone winning or you having disabled victory conditions.

If you are playing on Marathon speed, turn 450 is about on pace since everything takes twice as long.

Last game, i played as Shaka, and got to turn 729 (1666 AD) ((Marathon game. real Earth map, huge.))

Spent much longer than i needed to, because last AI alive was Cree, and that meant reaching the west side of the map, with enough troops to destroy what i thought was going to be a huge Cree group of cities.... it was the only AI on the entire North and South America after all, so it had no one to worry about (Except barbs and zombies) and the ton of city states all around it should have provided much trade....

In the end, it had 2 cities and did practically nothing at all....... so i wasted much time building an army i didn't need.
Cree spent the entire game getting it's backside handed to it by a barbarian clan, as there were so many zombies around it's towns that i think it gave up LOL

Standard speed, standard map size, usually wrap up a game in 300-350 turns. In fact, a lot of times, I'm actually slowing it down so I don't get an accidental victory by a VC I'm not trying for. Cultural and religious victories are way too easy.

I don't know if others have mentioned it, but you can set a time limit for the score victory. Just use the advanced settings when starting a game and set it lower than 500 which is the default.

i mod my map size to around 17k tiles (games default huge is 7k) .. put the x10 mod on ... and set it up for 8k turns max, i never reached it tho :)

140-160, standart speed, immortal/deity, huge map.
how? focus on victory type! do not build unnecessary things, make projects for your victory instead.
