How long before Ethiopia gets nerfed?
Playing as them now. They are insane. And the insanity synergizes. All resource improvements give faith. The rock church gives faith. Of course, you can get the card that gives 100% bonus to faith and get desert pantheon on a real world map and you are rolling in faith. You can expand like crazy. Then with the 15% bonus to science and culture from city faith (if you are on a hill), you are already getting decent science and culture before even having to build anything of those districts.

Enjoy it while you can. Of course, I thought they would nerf the work ethic belief and they didn't so who knows?

Does NOT need nerfed. It is another way to play the game. Yes it is powerful in specific situations, but not all.

The game is balanced around randomly generated maps, not around static maps like the real world.

Every civ is over powered in their own way, except for a few that are just bad.

The main counter to Ethiopia is that other civs are allergic to settling on hills.. so conquering is very less ideal.

I think you mean Jungle faith because Ethiopia isn't any better on desert. Jungle Sacred Path is the best way to go with them typically, depending on terrain.

¿Not building cities on hills? I almost ALWAYS do so XD, no matter the civ. I also feel Ethiopia OP, but perhaps it suits my play style SO WELL. And yes, the game has powerful and weak Civs, but mostly depends on the map. On my MP games with friends we either go random civs (if you get a powerful one, lucky you) or pick one, but bann some before picking (normally Maori, Korea, my beloved Sumeria, etc, etc, etc)

I mostly play TSL Earth and I can't say I dig Ethiopia. Whatever it can do, Russia does better. Much more faith generation purely from lavras on tundra surrounded by forests + scripture + work ethic + st. basic cathedral later on to make it all even more awesome. And it will also have a ton of culture great people, so potential for insane culture as well. Voidsingers gives +20% to if I'm not mistaken culture, science and gold, so that's all weaknesses covered. Insane, really.

Also, this reimagining of work ethic made Protestant Norway very viable. On TSL Earth Aurora is better than God of Sea for them as Stave Church not only gives Norway better adjacency than even Russia could achieve - so a ton of free production with no need to work any tile - but also +1 production for any coastal resource, including oil later on.

So in my book Ethiopia is something like Georgia. Both hill-based, therefore niche (Cossacks obviously > Oromo as UU). Both faith-oriented, but not really the strongest if you wanted pure faith output.

Early game Russia is usually stronger in faith output (with the right start, Earth Goddess can beat Lavras+dance of the aurora for total faith production, but those are rare). Late game? Russia will still have better Work Ethic synergy, but Ethiopia should be able to out do them on total faith production. Russia will have the edge for a lot of the game though, so by the time Ethiopia pulls in front of them it matters a lot less, especially if both have had Void Singers since the ancient era.

I haven't yet had the chance to really test which can finish the tech tree first with void singers, but I'd expect it to be fairly close either way.

With the exception of having no hills whatsoever, I can't think of a single situation where it isn't powerful when played right.

Don't nerf them to death though. They're really enjoyable to play, even though they might be too strong. It would be good if Georgia would get buffed though.
