"Rome is Where the Heart is" achievement not triggering with Theodora
Started playing as Theodora, founded a religion, converted Rome's capital to my religion, captured their capital, no achievement.
Looks like all of Byzantium's achievements only trigger with Basil.

Near as I can tell they still haven't provided any achievements for leaders of the leader pass so yeah

This isn't documented in the civilopedia or the wiki that I have read, but there have been reports in this forum of several achievements failing to trigger unless you are using the leaders as they existed when the achievement was released.

For example, Teddy's achievements reportedly won't trigger unless you are playing as vanilla Teddy -- not Bull Moose, not Rough Rider as he later split up into, but the Teddy of the game as it was when the achievement was introduced.

Presumably, the achievement is coded in a way that only recognizes vanilla Teddy as the leader who triggers it, and the devs didn't go back and change the coding when Bull Moose and Rough Rider were introduced. This fits a pattern, as the devs did not create new achievements for the new leaders they introduced in the leaders pack. Achievements in Civ VI, it seems, have been left on the ash heap of alternate history.

To be fair since you mentioned Teddy, there are some achievements that trigger, I recently got the Panama Canal and the Yosemite/Crater Lake National Park achievements as Rough Rider Teddy in a game, been playing with all DLC on too.

So most, if not all, achievements work as intended with all playable characters, it appears that the only exception are the Leader Pass characters, at least for now.

The behavior clearly isn't uniform, and the hitch in reported cases seems to be that a wonder involved in the achievement has changed characteristics in a later DLC. Some achievements let you get away with changing the name of a city to meet the conditions, and some don't. Perhaps they left some unpaid intern handle the coding for achievements, and you get what you pay for.

As far as the Leader Pass leaders, the pass creates not only some new personas for existing leaders, but also a lot of new leaders, but only for existing civs. Of course they haven't issued any new achievements for these leaders or personas, that is known. What I don't know from personal experience or from reports is whether existing achievements associated to a given civ are consistently triggered by a new leader for that civ in the Leader Pass

I wish I had found this post BEFORE I fought through an entire game as Theodora. Rome was the second to last capital I needed, converted to my civ, capture, no achievement.

Tried to do two achievements at once, should have stuck with Basil for this one ::

They did, but just "Victory with..." variety. I never expected gameplay achieves for them as those require more QA playtest time to make sure they work, and are somewhat balanced.

Edit- Apologies, didn't notice this was from May. This is why we don't necro threads kids, they contain outdated info.

Yeah but it's not like a game with Theodora is a loss. She's amazingly fun to play.

Which is worse: posting redundant threads if an existing thread contains the information (Theodoro can't get Rome is where the heart is) or necroing the thread that contains that information, in case someone from the future comes looking for it?

This is true! but due to getting screwed over by geography (was isolated from everyone by a massive mountain range that had one civ plugging the gap) by the time I was able to get through to the rest of the world, I had missed my timing push wish with heavy cav before walls were put up. Would have been MUCH easier with Basils (horse > wall).
