AI opponents

How do you choose AI opponents in the game options?
I would like to play against 12 opponents.
How and where can I choose them?

When you start a new game go to advanced settings and you can pick out specific AI players. You can also save the game configuration. I always start a new game by going to advanced settings and loading my preferred configuration.

Thanks for reply..May I choose opponents from group Leader L1 or L2?

You can ask the game to select random opponents from L1 or L2, but you can also pick specific opponents - it's a drop down list. The only time I tried it I chose the specific opponents I wanted to play against.

Thanks. I forgot to say i'm playing on PS5 with PS4 Civ 6 Game (Rise and fall).
I can choose between two drop down list: L1 and L2, both identical with the same opponents. If I select opponents form L1 drop down list (for example) , in game i'm finding random opponents, not exactly the ones I chose. I'm lost....

I'm playing GS on PC, but it should be similar
(1) Create New Game
(2) Advanced Options
(3) Select 'map' and 'map size', the player drop-down boxes on the left will change to the recommended number
(4) add/remove AI players to get to the desired number, 12
(5) open each drop-down and choose a specific AI opponent

Note that using those leader pools is also a way of excluding leaders/civs you never want to play with. In that case you would add all the leaders/civs to a pool and then remove the ones you never want to play against. Then use that pool for the game's random selection. It's a nice tool they added a few years back.

The explanation is clear, thank you.
The critical point is (4) : in PS4 configuration I have two drop down list to choose from.... not only one.
They are identical: same opponents
The first one is L1, the second one is called L2
I hope I was clear, you probably only have one to choose from.
The comical side of the issue, is that I've been playing Civilization for about 20 years.....First time now on consolle, before now always on PC . If I you could attach a picture everything would be clearer. I will try to take a picture and upload it somewhere.

It sounds like you don't have the individual players drop-down boxes that I have, however there is another way. Here's my advanced setup screen with the individual players on the left -

If I click on Leader Pool 1 Everything I get the following page which allows me to deselect those I'm not interested in -

Your leader is always the first name in the players list with the decorative bronze brackets on either side.

I've tried everything, every combination... It doesn't work: in game I get 12 random opponents.
I think it's a bug somewhere (PS4 or PS5)

Sorry I couldn't be of more help Ulysses, I think you will need another PS player to point you in the right direction. Perhaps you could post screenshots of your advanced setup screen?

1) Note in the lower left corner the square that leads to the advanced configuration.
I tried choosing my leader in this screen (top center), but it seems to me that you can also choose in Adv .Conf :top right bar "giocatori" (4)
I also tried ignoring this screen (1) and making all the choices in Adv .Conf. without success.
Feel free to ask for translation from Italian to English.
