civilization 6 file corrupted (Mac OS) - even after installing and reinstalling
Hello, I need technical assistance.

Whenever I download the game file from Steam, it is corrupted. when I try to run the file it gives me an error. " It says this file is damaged, do you want to move to trash? "

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the game, and then run the file again but it still was damaged.

This is a problem that has afflicted the Aspyr port for more than half a year now. There is a macOS security feature called "Gatekeeper" that checks every newly installed app for a developer ID, and looks it up on a list maintained by Apple. If your ID is not on that list, it generates that error message.

I don't know why Aspyr has not done whatever is required to get their ID back onto the approved list. :(

You can get around the issue by bypassing security for Civ VI. This set of tasks should work:

After receiving the "damaged" error message,
- Open the Mac System Settings.
- Select "Privacy and Security".
- Select "Security Settings"
- In the Security Settings, you should see a prompt saying "Civilization VI was block..." Click the "Open Anyway" button under this text.
- Enter your system password if prompted.
