Bug: Window Resolution makes the game unplayable

I can't see the bottom half of my screen.

When I first started up the game, I was given a window that was a small box on the screen. So the first thing I did was go to the options to try and fix it, only to find that my screen resolution or even a native option wasn't available. So I chose the next size up and clicked apply. Now the bottom of the window is off the screen, and trying to change it back is impossible as I can't click the apply button as it's now off the screen, and hitting enter does nothing.

I even tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but the window size change still persisted!

I can't play the game with the bottom half of my screen gone. That's where most of the menu is. I can't find anything to fix it, so now I'm stuck with a game I can't even play, and never even got a chance to.

Not that it helps any, but I'm on Linux Zorin, and my native resolution would normally be 1920x1080, except the screen I play on has overscan issues, so I had to use Nvidia's settings to adapt for it, setting the "native" resolution to 1780x1001. Most modern games I've seen have never had an issue with this and just use 'native'. Shocked the hell out of me when I realized Civ 6 doesn't.

You can manually edit the options for the game in the AppOptions.txt file. I was able to locate mine at:

[place where your SteamLibrary exists]/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/289070/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/AppOptions.txt

I was able to set the resolution to 1780x1001, but only in windowed mode. You'd probably have to reduce the vertical resolution further to adjust for the size of the title bar if you go for that.

Note that this is running under Proton; if you're using the Aspyr port, the AppOptions.txt file is probably located somewhere else...
