However, you can also use Proton to run the Windows version of the game (which is what I've been doing). You do this by selecting "Force the use of a specific Steam compatibility tool" under the Compatibility tab of the Civ VI preferences, and then selecting a Proton option (such as "Proton experimental", which is what I'm using).
The Windows executable runs well for me, but there is still one problem; the 2K launcher application is buggy. :( I have been bypassing the launcher and going straight to the game with this sed script (provided by user Vegan Velociraptor):
eval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI.exe'/" )
You can just cut & paste this script into the "Launch Options" field of the General tab of the Civ VI preferences.
I stupidly cancelled that.
Since then, when trying to start it, only the first small splash screen comes up briefly. This disappears and nothing happens anymore.
The library shows that the game is running. Button shows "Stop".

If so, you are seeing the 2K launcher. Which is buggy. :( To bypass it, you'll need to use something like this:
eval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI.exe'/" )
Copy that line into the "Launch Options" field in the General tab of the Civ VI preferences.
In the original version (Linux) it ran smoother and I could set more details.
I play on the laptop (HP ZBook Mobile Workstation) with a hybrid graphics card (Intel & nVIDIA Quadro Pro). In the Linux version of Civ6, "Unknown" is shown as the graphics card in Settings -> Graphics. In the Windows? - version both GPU's (Intel / Quadro) are displayed. I have selected the Quadro Pro. As I said, the performance is slightly worse in the Windows version.
You dropped this :crown:
