Why is this game so expensive ????????
It's so expensive, I'm a big fan of civilization games, but still, with this money, I could buy multiple very good games. Why should anyone spend this much on this kind of game... ??? I mean, battlefield 1 is more worth this money than this game. I dont understand. To pay so much, for a game that is not even finished, and will have a bunch of extra dlc's, and without them, the game would be worse.. I bet dlc's will cost like 25 euros each... Money grabbing ♥♥♥♥♥♥..

Name is American.
+ Profile says America.
+ Game is $60 in America, same as any other AAA title.
= Talks about Euros?

I'm from Europe. My profile can say anything..

lol, Battlefield 1 I wouldn't buy for €10. That game is not worth money at all for me. This game I have no problem with the price tag.

Also; you call this money grabbing and compare it to an EA game...yeah, that sound well thought out.

I wonder if kids in Europe think it's cool to pretend to be American.

All of the expansions that were in Civ V will be in VI. Also, It's $60 because making games like this isn't easy. It's not a mobile app that takes a few months and given out for free. And the base amount for AAA games is $60. If you don't like it then don't buy it.

You also have to factor in the people who have to get paid salaries and time spent.
Making these games aren't easy and cheap.

Guys, OP has a total of 2 games in his totally European library, one of which is a free to play and the other is about 10 bucks on any given day.
I think he just wondered off the reservation and needs to find his way back to the RAGEPOST.

Norwegian price for civ IV is 599, 70$ ish ,a normal AAA game is 449-499 around 52-58$ at current exchange rates. is this game overpriced? yes. Though i'll probably buy the game at some point after release depending on reviews.

Not preordering a Civ game again after wasting money on Beyond Earth

Its too expensive. Even other great games, hoi4 etc, don´t cost about that much. Would have spent about 34,99€, without reading test, but not that much.

Hate to break it to you both, But Civ VI is the price of a AAA game in america. Every AAA game I've ever purchased was $60. CoD, GTA V, Fallout 4, Battlefield, Sims 4, Elder scrolls, XCOM 2 Total war, and Army Elite. Though most of them have lost price over time. But I've paid $60 for all those games and before. I recall TES: Skyrim being $60 and that was in 2011 Halo: Reach was $60 and that was in September 14th 2010. Mafia II was $60 and was released in 2010. Pretty sure Halo: CE was $60. I don't remember. So I'm pretty sure, That Civ VI is the base price of a brand ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ new AAA video game that takes years to make. Stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and whining because you can't afford it.

Nope, besides following cultural trends and movies, no. (I hope for my own minds sake...)

Isnt easy - true. BUT! This is never was so easy. Make a game - wasnt easy 2 years ago... 5 years ago... etc. Nevertheless... games become more expensive every year.

+ Isnt easy... but also - not so hard how some big company says.... We have many examples of a good games which was made by a few guys.

Yep. Agane - true. BUT, agane, we have some problems here:

Last part of civilization - wasnt good. So, i (for example) not sure about part VI. "Money refund" doesnt works realy good for big strategy games. Its not a poker! In civilization... It takes a long time to understand this game is good or not.

If you buying TV you have two-year warranty (+\- year). But if you buying game - you havnt any... right. Seriously guys... it's like in stone age if we talking about... law and jurisprudence.

Сompanys has all the rights and no liability. It does not bother you, if we talking about small price.... But last two years i see more and more ppl who says:

"- if companys doesnt care about me, why i must care about them? i'd rather take pirat version".

So, i dont think what "greed" - it's good for company and for people. In the end it will be bad for all.

Economics. There are many things to take into account, but for example: salaries.
Salaries increase.
Salaries are definately both higher in base and increase faster in a big company like Firaxis as compared to your example of a company with a few persons.
A big company like Firaxis, with many employees, also need even more employees to make everything work. Total employed numbers is usually not a linear curve.

Another thing. Stock owners. The small company in your example is most likely self funded and not on the stock exchange. That makes a huge difference.

As I noted first, there are a lot of things to take into account if you are even going to compare Firaxis to a small development studio and other games. But these was two examples of it.

I have the money, and for me, this is not that expensive, but I dont see myself buying this, because I bet it'll be ♥♥♥♥ without dlc's, just like civ 5 was. I'll wait for when it's released, and see some normal gameplay. Meanwhile, battlefield 1 is number 1 on my list, I guess I love shooters..:steammocking:

So your post is really an opinion piece under the guise of a question. Congratulations on having an opinion.
