+ Profile says America.
+ Game is $60 in America, same as any other AAA title.
= Talks about Euros?
Also; you call this money grabbing and compare it to an EA game...yeah, that sound well thought out.
You also have to factor in the people who have to get paid salaries and time spent.
Making these games aren't easy and cheap.
I think he just wondered off the reservation and needs to find his way back to the RAGEPOST.
Lmao
Not preordering a Civ game again after wasting money on Beyond Earth
Isnt easy - true. BUT! This is never was so easy. Make a game - wasnt easy 2 years ago... 5 years ago... etc. Nevertheless... games become more expensive every year.
+ Isnt easy... but also - not so hard how some big company says.... We have many examples of a good games which was made by a few guys.
Yep. Agane - true. BUT, agane, we have some problems here:
Last part of civilization - wasnt good. So, i (for example) not sure about part VI. "Money refund" doesnt works realy good for big strategy games. Its not a poker! In civilization... It takes a long time to understand this game is good or not.
If you buying TV you have two-year warranty (+\- year). But if you buying game - you havnt any... right. Seriously guys... it's like in stone age if we talking about... law and jurisprudence.
Сompanys has all the rights and no liability. It does not bother you, if we talking about small price.... But last two years i see more and more ppl who says:
"- if companys doesnt care about me, why i must care about them? i'd rather take pirat version".
So, i dont think what "greed" - it's good for company and for people. In the end it will be bad for all.
Economics. There are many things to take into account, but for example: salaries.
Salaries increase.
Salaries are definately both higher in base and increase faster in a big company like Firaxis as compared to your example of a company with a few persons.
A big company like Firaxis, with many employees, also need even more employees to make everything work. Total employed numbers is usually not a linear curve.
Another thing. Stock owners. The small company in your example is most likely self funded and not on the stock exchange. That makes a huge difference.
As I noted first, there are a lot of things to take into account if you are even going to compare Firaxis to a small development studio and other games. But these was two examples of it.
