I'm pretty sure they chosen this horrible cartoon style to port it later for mobile and tablets!

I doubt that. Not that style is not horrible - oh it is, but mobile platforms will not be able to run complex strategy games for years. Playing Civ games on easily overheating devices with weak CPUs and a battery that will last for 3-4 hours of gaming - thats torture.
The style is there to attract mobile crowd. I just hope that it ends in style, and not goes into real content.

You can buy XCOM for your smartphone. Also Civilization Revolution 2. Modern mobile devices are a lot more powerful than you give them credit for.

It wasn't that long ago someone told me that smart watches were a thing of the past they came and went 20 years ago. All it took was for the industry to start making good product worth buying and it soon took off again.

Then there was the screen industry. In Steam forums I saw people argue that the level of resolution of IPS screens was a thing of the past....'who needsd more than 1920x1200? 3D is the way forward & FPS is everything' - what a load of spheroids that proved to be.

All it takes for a tablet to run a large game is
1] Sufficient storage space for teh app [game]
2] A well designed UI
3] a good external pointer like a mouse [as many of us don't like touchscreens as it meansa obscuring details with fingers] or gamepad.... hmm $Steam controller$ anyone?
4] a decent multithread CPU
5] A decent GPU

So if you think about it the only thing missing from the top tablets and phones is 1] & 2] Even a small screen size of say a phone can be boosted by casting teh image to say a TV or with a projector.
