What is the difference between the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Standard?

Thanks, I was trying to find this info also. More details would be great since an extra $20 for 4 civ DLC doesn't sound like that great of a deal considering the cost of DLC for Civ V - either their prices will be going up (which is ridiculous IMO since the DLCs tend to offer a tiny sliver of the base game, not 1/12 or 1/10 of content of the base gaem) or they're going to be more loaded this time around (and more costly).

civ v dlcs vastly changed the gameplay. (trade routes/religion/etc)

You're referring to expansions, not the typical dlc. It might seem like playing semantics but it's an important distinction since the typical dlc would only be the occasional map pack, scenarios, or a single additional Civ. The expansions are what brings new gameplay mechanics and they're likely not included in the deluxe version as they're usually pretty pricey.
Firaxis really needs to clarify this before people make uninformed purchases.

I would hold off on calling it a season pass. That could really give someone the wrong impression. I think a normal season pass would give someone access to major content updates after a game is released, and what is most likely with this deluxe version is that it will grant only the minor dlc's between release and the first expansion.

It's because they technically are. I was careful to word my comment in a way that gave a practical difference between things that are technically the same, but if you managed to get a stick up your ass about it then figure it out for yourself.

I beg to differ. I'm simply explaining to somebody what they should most likely expect when the deluxe version is bundled with 4 "dlc's", and that when the major content updates are made available you will always hear them referred to as expansions - while only the minor content packages will be referred to only as a dlc. I do so without expecting myself to have to place an asterisk next to every statement that denotes the factual technicality of those statements, too. Why? Because only someone with a stick up their ass would take issue with explaining things in a practical manner.

it was more optimism that the DLC included in the deluxe would be the more robust sorts of DLC that have been offered since they're all considered "DLC", nothing more.
