I'm having the same issues of this not working on my mac.
Can you specify what kind of Mac you have?
This solved my error - I've noticed most of the issues related to Mac are solved by either performing OS system update / Privacy & Security config updates to allow Civ app access.
I tried but it doesn't work
Hey, just wondering: are you running on an Apple Silicon Mac, or an Intel Mac?
This file was downloaded on an unknown date.
Ever since I updated to MacOS Ventura 13.2, I get the above error whenever I try to open Civ 6. First, it'll have me update the game for like 8 minutes or so, then it'll give me the error message above when I try to open it. The game worked mostly fine before the update.
This is happening on my Mac Book Pro (Processor: 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7).
Is this the only place to let the devs know how prevalent this issue is?
Well, drat. I was hoping this issue was only associated with Rosetta. :(
Actually, I doubt the devs spend too much time monitoring this discussion board (if at all). But Aspyr does have a website you can visit. In fact, it seems as though they are already aware of the issue, and are delaying further work on new material to concentrate on fixing the bugs:
https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us/articles/12395310432013-Leader-Pass-Update-Civilization-VI-Mac-and-iOS
Whilst not having a fix, from attempting to play the game I feel like I've at least found the graphical element that's the source of the issue. It occurs with Civ IV's 'fog of war' sepia effect, specifically the outline of the pine trees (woods or rainforest), where not being zoomed in super close causes them to sky-beam the dark outline instead of being contained around the shape. That's why it kicks in 20-30 turns in, because you've explored enough of the map to have some 'fog of war' areas.
