MacOS error 4294956486 (or similar)

With a recent update on MacOS, people are seeing errors when trying to run Civ6.
Please submit a ticket to Aspyr Support.
Anything that people find, can be posted here to help others along.

This worked for me! Credits to Dementia91 on Reddit.

For the people experiencing this issue, Aspyr has responded with a possible fix:
Reinstall the Civilization VI.
Select "Play" from the Steam library.
After the "Verifying" prompt appears and completes, close the damaged error prompt.
Then, open the Mac System Settings.
Select "Privacy and Security".
Select "Security Settings"
In the Security Settings, you should see a prompt saying "Civilization VI was block..."
Click the "Open Anyway" button under this text.
Enter your system password if prompted.
Then select "Open" on the security prompt.
Your game should now launch

for my situation:

I am using Macbook Pro 2021 M1 Max.
1. same error happened
2. delete and reinstall the game
3. the game can open now

btw, the new Caesar leader was disappeared.
so... he is the "MacOS error 4294956486" ?

Tried this, still doesn't work for me. :/

My two errors after finishing the last "Open" on the security prompt step:
1. The file has been damaged and should be moved to the bin.
2. If I click "Open," a window appears saying "app configuration unavailable."

This doesn't do it for me either!

But wait a mo...then I remembered I forgot to clear the Launch Option text (Folkesito fix) from the properties dialog box...deleted that and hallelujah the game came alive again! Will have to see if it remains stable with some test play...but the Dementia91 fix DOES work (at least on my Ventura OS). Kudos and thanks!

Getting the same MacOS error after the update. If Genghis Khan were still in office (Khan 2024) this would not be happening.

I was going to follow the above instructions but once I reinstalled it worked! (No Caesar though...)

I have MacOS 10.13.6, and it says that now after updating that it needs 10.14.6 to launch. It didn't need that before the update. So now I can't play the game anymore?

I also try the recommend way to verify the file, after updating, still crashed again. Using M1 MBA.

Report it at support.aspyr.com. They're the ones who messed it up and it's on them to fix it. Until that happens you can't play.

On MacOS 10.15.7: Uninstall Civ. Restart computer. Install Civ. Let files verify. Now it works again.

Mine says "Civilization VI" is damaged and can't be opened." I tried to reinstall and didn't fix the issue. This is not happening just to me right? I'm using Mac Studio with super high end specs....

my OS windows 10 version 22H2 64 same here after last update the game crashes with silly massage your display adapter not up to date > silly . any one have fixed this ♥♥♥♥ yet
