Linux version downgrade
Whatever has happened with the latest updates has ended up with the Linux version of the game being downgraded, making it impossible to load game saves created as recently as a few hours ago today.

When I now launch the game, it runs version 1.0.1.104 (194096). This is quite an old version, and is incompatible with the saved games, which are from version 1.0.12.9 (225649).

I have attempted to use the beta 'legacy' option to get back to the previous (working) version of the game, but this version is only 10.0.11 and so is similarly unable to play my saved game files. It is anyway something of a joke for the 'legacy' version of the game to be a later version than what you are currently shipping.

If anyone can see a way to resolve this other than waiting for Steam/the devs to return our access to the 1.0.12.9 or later builds, I'd appreciate the suggestion.

Yes, i am using the Linux version and i have the same issue, i just checked. I suppose that explains why many DLCs do not load.

Same problem here on Linux. Trying to play Local Network and it's not working.

I'm in the same boat. Worked fine three hours ago, now back-revved and can't load my current game.

Just checked again, Steam finally gave me the free Leader pack DLC so i have 19 on my account page on steam, but still the Linux version is old so i can't use them.

Yeah, same here as well.

Same here on my machine, version 1.0.1.

I was about two hours into my first game and now I'm having this problem. Pretty frustrating...

Are we able to roll back updates?

I think I have the same issue. Game launches, but won't load my saves. Would love to know how to rollback if that's possible.

I raised this issue with 2k support and they brushed off any responsibility for Linux versions (even though this is really a distribution issue). I've now raised this with Aspyr, as they suggested, let's see if they act on it.

They should. But it seems strange to me that they didn't work with Aspyr before rolling out the update.

I didn't help for me because of incompatible mods (didn't investigate further), but this works to rollback to the 'previous' version: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/how-to-use-legacy-branch.661023/

This takes you back to a previous live version, which is 1.0.11 in this case, and also incompatible with recent saves from the real latest version 1.0.12, but might allow some of the currently-broken DLC to work.

I'm in the same boat, updated yesterday evening and then got a version mismatch when trying to enter an existing PBC game. Doesn't seem to be much we can do but wait for a new update; if I'm not mistaken both Windows and Mac versions seem to have been fixed already? I opened a support ticket with Aspyr to underline the need for a resolution.

I just tried a fix suggested by user "tin foil hat": force compatibility mode to Proton 7.0-4. After that, I got the new launcher, I got back to version 1.0.12, and I got the Julius Caesar mod.

Perhaps they only tested against a single version of Proton?
