Yeah. Hopefully this doesn't effect sales.

Can't have it all

Might be added with a DLC though. Just to round everything out when they start adding in other civs for moneys

I always just take the wheel symbol and call it Vegvisir or Asatrú.

Expect more in mods, I'm sure.

We'll see. I don't use mods. If they haven't implemented the symbol by the release, I'm pretty sure they won't do it at all. I don't think they've just forgotten it. So what could the reason be..?

Such a tiny thing. ..but indicative. I was starting to warm up for civ6.

Thor's hammer is more a comics symbol than a norse polytheism symbol I believe.

As I understand it, Mjölnir is actually a common symbol in norse paganism. I think archaeologists found many small pendants and amulets in that shape.

It's popular with modern norse/germanic neopagans, certainly.

There are a lot of missing symbols, if you want to look at every religion in the world.

It is, but it became more common when christianism was gaining popularity in "norse" regions. So it might be a syncretist symbol.

On the other hand, the Vegvisir or Ægishjálmr look more common, but they are more like talismans.

Maybe a simple Rune would be a better choice, similar to christian Chi Rho, which would probably be a good way to represent pre-schismatic christianism.

Didn't Civ V add a few extra symbols with the Brave New World expansion? I can't remember.

At any rate, yeah, mods will have pretty much every symbol ever created. This game should be more mod friendly than the last one, so one little mod shouldn't hurt your gaming experience.

In all honesty, I do not care much about the religious symbols. I usually pick the closest fit for the particular civ. I wouldn't have given it a second though haden't a friend noticed that he didn't see Norse religion in the game. I told him it's basically just names and you pick the bonuses yourself. "Better this way to avoid controversies.. ..well I guess they'll have a symbol that suits a Norse religion since Norway is in the game, why wouldn't they?"
Now, it looks like they haven't added it. Why haven't they added a symbol for Norway's religion? Such a simple little thing that would be so obvious to have in the game, much more so than adding a Viking civ or religion in the first place. Is it to be politically correct? It just seems so ridiculuos but I can't see any other reason. I haven't seen you giving a good reason either.

It seems reasonable to have the religions of the civilizations in the game. 15-20 tops?

Wasn't the Norwegian leader in the game the one who promoted Christianisation?
loppantorkel Oct 9, 2016 @ 9:18am
He was one of the later leaders, so yes, I think he did. Doesn't change anything though, does it?
SamBC Oct 9, 2016 @ 9:25am
Well, that would make it logical that Christianity fit as his "preferred" religion.
