Well. It seems my computer is some way obsolete to support civ6, is it? I suppose I don't have a separate GPU, but I don't know how to verify it.

Just to understand if it is unuseful to continue to try....

If I launch dxdiag.exe I've got this dyagnosis:

WINDOWS 8.1 64 BIT (6.3 BUILD 9600)
BIOS P11-A0
INTEL R PENTIUM R CPU G640 2.80 GHZ 2 CPUS -2.8GHZ
MEMORY 2048MB RAM
FILE PAGING 6072MB - 1778
DIRECT X VERSION: DIRECT X 11

MONITOR DYAGNOSIS OK, NO PROBLEM.

AUDIO:

Could be eventually be this the problem?

Your problem is that you don't meet the minimum requirements for the game. Your CPU doesn't meet the minimum, your graphics don't meet the minimum, and your RAM doesn't meet the minimum.

Thank you guys. Sorry for the questions.

I know this has been mentioned, but just to emphazize, this game will not run properly or at all on intergrated graphics.

Read Sam's last few posts. He puts it straight and correctly. (I tend to blather a bit.)

A dedicated GPU is essential otherwise it's a waste of time and money.
I consider myself a moderate gamer and wouldn't play any game made in the past several years, or in DX11 and higher on intergrated graphics. For modern demanding games a medium level GPU (dedicated) which should all be able to play DX11 is the minimum.

However for very casual Microsoft style chess games, old favourites like space invaders or tetris pacman etc etc which were designed decades ago intergrated is fine. Civ 6 - No way.

Integrated graphics are the way to go on a laptop for many reasons, unless, the user is a gamer, or does video editing/conversions.

One of the machines I play Civ 6 on is a laptop with integrated graphics, and the game works fine, albeit on lower settings.

Sure, but that hugely depends on what integrated graphics you have and what one finds acceptable to play with.

I think the general statement of integrated graphics is not going to work for this game is the safer bet currently.
Which is probably also why they aren't supported in the first place...

The specific integrated graphics in question don't support the required API versions.

Some more recent ones do, so might actually run, but will give poor performance.

As the two gents said above.

But I admit, I haven't tried out skylake or kaby integrated graphics. So, I suppose on paper it's possible. But really, I'm curious, how does it run? are all settings rock bottom?

If you can get a playable game then it shows how out the picture I am when it comes to integrated graphics, just never even considered it.

Ah, if you played purely in the strategy view that may well work? Half kidding there btw, but really curious.

So, I have the oldest integrated graphics to support DirectX 11: Intel HD 4000. However, I also have 16 GB RAM, which I think helps greatly, along with Intel Core i5-3210M @ 2.50G Hz.

The game rarely goes below 20 FPS. I believe I have all the settings to minimum, except map size, which I increase to standard. No strategic view.

I also have a desktop computer with a GPU that meets minimum requirements. On the same game settings as the laptop, I get up to 60 FPS.

However — and maybe this is the result of my untrained eye — I don't experience much of a difference between the two machines. I basically enjoy the game equally on both.

Because everyone is saying it, I haven't had much time to play civ 6, but from what I have, it runs fine on my 7890k's intigrated GPU in dual graphics (similar to crossfire) with my R7 250.
Limygeorge Apr 26, 2017 @ 4:41am
@dpokerface

Thanks for that. Interesting. 20 fps is pretty low, but I guess on a game like Civ 6 it's not as bad
as other genres.
Main thing, you can enjoy the game! So you are all set IMO.

I don't know if I am more greater enjoy from game or testing it :D
I've played quite a lot today on my NB/tablet and still without falls...20-35fps without recording

ADVICE: if you want to speed up the game, - loading, turn times..Add game to exceptions for Windows Defenders and antivirus if you use - slow down enough ...If you are using the latest build Win 10, turn on the Windows key + G game mode...:steamhappy: :steamhappy: :steamhappy:
ADVICE 2:When the game does not start or you get something wrong install All in One Runtimes http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Windows-Software-122001/Downloads/All-in-One-Runtimes-Download-1164729/

Hey, can someone advise me whether this will run on an Asus R701 laptop?
I'm in the market for a laptop and found a second hand one. It's specs seem to suggest the following:
Intel Core i7 2.4 ghz processor
16 gb DDR3 ram
1 tb HD
2gb Nvidia GT650 vid card

Seems the card and the ram won't be an issue but I'm concerned it will run crap due to the lack of processing power. What do you guys think?
Conspiracy_Hand Jun 25, 2017 @ 11:58pm
Will mine work?

Win 10

Intel Core I7 CPU 2.6 GHz

8.00 GB RAM

64 Bit x64 based proesser

1tb Hard Drive
