is key from gmg EU region locked?
i mean is anyone successfully activated outside EU? or someone tell me what it shows for us key after activation?

I live in South Korea, preordered deluxe edition from GMG and activated it.

I think you need to submit a support ticket.

I asked GMG about region locked game when I tried to buy Mafia III.

and they said

Thank you very much for your ticket.

If you can see the game for sale in your region without using a VPN to mask your location then you should be able to redeem the game.

So, If you didn't use VPN when you ordered, they will change your key.

i can activated, but since i need to travel, i am more worried about if i can play outside EU

if it says it is for EU region use. then it is for EU region use.

When i unlocked the serial, it showed me the "EU region" too

Region locking seems to be mostly for gifts. For regular games very few are.

Unless GMG wrote it was region locked It should not be since the game steam page does not mention it either. As long as it's already on your account it should not lock itself if you move around.

I preordered from GMG. I live in Michigan, and my key works fine. I've never had a key from GMG not work.

Yeah, my bad, I just looked on SteamDB and it's a mess. Keys for Russia, China and areas around that seems to be locked both for both install and play while those in NA and EU seems to be locked only for activation.

Oh, I see, I think you don't worry about that because EU keys only have activation locked.

check here

and check 123217 and 123218 both numbers are EU keys.

and check 123219 this number is RU/CIS key. also you can see " onlyallowrunincountries "

It means can not play without these countries. You can not see that 213217 and 123218.

So... don't worry about playing :D:

Activation lock is more common than play lock, these days.

Live in the EU, got a key from GMG, it says something something EU, activated and downloaded it.
Since Civ6 doesn't violate any laws of any mentionable nation, there's no reason why there would be a play lock. This is certainly only an activation lock. Once activated you can take your notebook anywhere and still play it.

There are examples like Wolfenstein which have a play lock so that you can't play an uncensored version in places like Germany where the depiction of certain symbols is illegal.
Like I said, Civ6 won't be play locked anywhere outside of Buttf***istan.
