That's an interesting question. I can't remember any benefits from Civ V though.

The biggest benefit other than the land etc. that is typical, is it prevents other nations from being allies with them/using their military against you. If someone has a city state ally on my flank and levies their military in a war against me that could be an issue.

i see so only strategical reason, i hoped there would be some other benifit. it would be awesome if i could capture a city state and they would turn into my private city state removing all other deligates and the only way to change allience or to turn it back to normal for that city state is to be liberated by someone else.

They don't want it to be a viable option, in civ5 if you declared war on 2 or more city states. They became weary and your influence with them decayed ultra fast.

But in civ6 there is no diplo win, so why ally with them, other than for resources?

Because you can get some major bonuses from being allied with them. Boosts to science, faith and production. Some of the Suzerin bonues just seem to good to pass up.

The Suzerain bonuses are potentially very powerful, and in several cases they appear to be things you can't get any other way.

so do you guys agree that if you conqure them they should become your own city state instead of just another of your city?

Hopefully I will still be able to turn city states off, they were always annoying to me.

Diplomacy wins will be added with the first expansion. Expect diplomacy to be much polished from previous versions. :eh::pill::B1:

The AI Diplomacy will never be polished. The AI is and always will be incapable of diplomacy worth anything more than annoying us with their random and nonsensical mood swings and declarations of war.

I'll sometimes capture a city state if they are close to me and have a couple of luxury resources I don't have.

Is depends on your playstyle. What victory condition are you seeking? For example Toronto is very valuable if your seeking the extra production boost. And Jerusalem might be worthless to you if you dont make a strong religion part of your gameplan

Not the AI, but Diplomacy as a whole. Think of how much religion, espionage, and ideologies changed; this is what I mean by polished. Expect diplomacy to be expanded upon as a whole once added. :eh::pill::B1:
