Release, preload, pre-order and digital deluxe information
In an effort to clear up any lingering confusion, here's the lowdown on the pre-order incentive and the digital deluxe deal.

Pre-orders get access to the Aztec pack, including the Aztecs, their leader Montezuma, and an additional wonder, the Huey Teocalli, as soon as the game releases. This will be available to everyone free of charge 90 days after release. No-one will have to pay extra for the Aztec pack at any point.

The Digital Deluxe edition of the game comes with the 25th Anniversary soundtrack. It is not known if, as the title suggests, this includes tracks from previous games. It will also give you 4 post-release DLC at no additional charge when they release. These DLC will provide maps, scenarios, civilizations and leaders; that is all we know. The store page clearly indicates that the release price of these 4 DLC will add up to more than the difference between the standard and Digital Deluxe version, as they state clearly that the Digital Deluxe represents a saving. There has been no indication that a digital deluxe upgrade will be available, but that's not conclusive.

The game will release on the 21st of October, as has been known for some time. Details about the unlock time are at https://civilization.com/news/entries#civilization-vi-pre-load-is-now-live (last time I tried, the civ website killed my Firefox, so be cautious if that's your browser) and http://steamcommunity.com/app/289070/allnews/. Once again, the world is divided into three regions. Oceania, South Asia, South-East Asia and some of East Asia get unlocked at 3am AEDT (4pm UTC); Europe, Africa and the rest of Asia (and Iceland and Greenland) unlock at midnight BST (11pm UTC); the Americas (except Greenland) unlock at midnight Eastern (4am UTC, if I haven't lost track of daylight savings changes). The full map is at https://cdn.2kgames.com/civilization.com/civilization_vi_steam_unlock_FINAL_hero.jpg

Pre-load is live, at least for Windows. It's 3.9GB, which should decompress to over 7GB, and I wouldn't (personally) expect the day 0 download to be too huge - but I have no confirmed information about that.

This post will be updated when there is more confirmed information.

One would think that if you pre-order and you'd get early access to the game..

Why would you think you'd have access to the game when it doesn't say "early access" anywhere? The standard practice is still for you to be able to play a game once it's released.

3.9 compressed amounts to 7ish GB according to Steam. It also says it needs 12 GB on the Store page, so expect another download of about 3 GB on release.
12GB to run the game means the freshly downloaded and installed amount will be significantly less than that, usually - they usually pad that to allow for runtime cache files, save games, configuration, all sorts of stuff. I wouldn't expect the final download to be too much on top of the 3.9GB.

I know it doesn't say early access anywhere. That's what I'm questioning. Why offer pre-order and not have early access in that package? If there was early access offered, i'm sure more copies would have been pre-ordered.

Is it just me or did it happened to anyone else? i pre-loaded Civ 6 yet since I ordered the Deluxe Edtion I see the extra content on my library purchases But steam wont let me download the following: Aztec Pack,25th year anniversity soundtrack, and the 4 Deluxe Edition dlcs. I'm pretty sure Steam does not allow to preload dlc.

Yeah but Aztecs was supposed to be downloadable by now it was a preorder so they should have make it accessable. But i understand if they put a lid on the 4dlc pack contents since the devs have not revealed it yet.

Well, at least you got it to preload... mine is stuck at "Starting" for more than 90 minutes now and not a single byte has been downloaded... anyone else having this issue???
