What are breakwaters for?
Does anyone know what the in-game effects of building them are? No entry in the Civipedia or anywhere else explains what they do exactly

Break waters are generally to protect beaches from tidal erosion and harbors from heavy tidals flows. in game I think the protect against rising sea levels from global warming.
Are you playing with mods? Breakwaters aren't a part of the game normally.

So was that a mod, or are you playing in a language in other than english, and "Breakwater" is the translation that is used for "Flood Barrier"?

Seems to be a mod then, dunno why I thought it was part of the base game. Now I just need to hunt down which mod is it...

And no, the Flood Barrier is a different thing (Hochwassersperre for me).
It;s a mod. Extended districts.
