How is CIV most commonly played? Single player or multiplayer
I heard games last very long, does that work out in multiplayer?

It's usually played on single player. I suggest you buy Civ V instead of this piece of crap. Allot of work will be needed to fix this game.

Multiplayer has a really fast setting that makes everything double as fast (production, science etc. everything completes in half the turns compared to standard speed). There are also game-modes for multiplayer that are designed to be quick games, like a 50-turn (or also a custom number of turns) sprint towards a score victory in the ancient era.

@ SimpleSiren: For multiplayer you can also enable a custom turn timer: That way there is a maximum amount of time per turn (if every player finishes earlier of course the turn will advance immediately). Also the game nudges players slightly to wrap up their turn by telling them if they are the last player that hasn't yet hit "last turn". Everyone also sees who is done with their turn already, so there is mild social pressure to not be the guy everyone waits for all the time.

While you can play multi, and a lot of people do and have fun with it, i normaly play this game signle player. The AI in civ 6 is a big improvement over 5, so i am having a blast playing single.

For me, multiplayer is boring and tedious, most players just want to win as fast as possible, which means if they need to rush to win, they rush, instead of thinking more strategically and tactically, they just rush and that kinda defeats the point of building a civilization and cities and an army, when they just build 50 of the most cheapest and versatile unit and just rush everything.

The vast majority of people play these games (4x genre) single player. Achievements say 20% have joined at least one MP game, hard to say how many of them were just trying one or going for the achievement. There's so many people playing though that even if only 5-10% were really interested in MP that it would be really active.
