I am referring to the multiplayer username seen in lobby's and multiplayer chat. Which is not associated with leader names, steam's profile name, nor nickname.
Whos bright idea was that.. Seems like one of those things you should be pre warned over. Then prompted with an option to change it.
Why its like that over Steam username in the first place is still odd though.
click properties on your username and change
reboot
after you hit apply, you may also want to uncheck the box so you don't have to log into windows every time you turn it on. It'll save your username and password and use it for you each time.
NOTE: ALL EXISTING MULTIPLAYER GAME SAVES WILL BE TOAST as it's looking for someone with your previous name to fill that slot. It'll put you into a slot that was previously handled by the AI
This breaks your windows user, DON'T do this.
Source: Tried it, you'll end up with no administrator users and a hell of a lot of trouble getting a new one to work.
Thanks for that, this was over a year ago, and yes it broke stuff :(
If you've already followed Win10's default set up, and named your computer "Charles Cook" the only way to fix it is to reset Win10 and start over. (Do this: On the log in screen, click the Power icon in the bottom right and then Hold DOWN the shift key and click restart. Keep the shift key down until the troubleshooting screen appears and go from there. Google: How to reset Windows 10 from the Log In screen.)
If you use your gaming rig for something other than gaming then you may want the benefits that Microsoft offers if you submit to them. But if your gaming rig is only for gaming, then resetting Win10 will solve this problem.
And, as you reset your computer, you are really, really glad that you put Steam, along with all your other games, on that external hard drive. Reload your browser and virus protection and you are good to go.
Open
and search for whatever the game is calling you now (in multiplayer, at least)
It's the setting called
late here as well but i dont see any section called [Multiplayer] is there a reason why
