The official Mac thread.
Aspyr is honored to announce the release of Civilization VI Mac!!! This is a thread for all the Apple heads out there. We will do our best to keep the thread updated with the latest information, as well as ongoing Mac details of this amazing game.

First and foremost, lets go over the officially supported system requirements:

Operating System: OSX 10.11 (El Capitan) and MacOS 10.12 (Sierra)
CPU Processor: Intel Core i5 (4 cores)
CPU Speed: 2.7 GHz
Memory: 6 GB
Hard Disk Space: 15 GB
Video Card (ATI): Radeon 6970M
Video Card (NVIDIA): GeForce 775M
Video Card (Intel): Iris Pro
Video Memory (VRam): 1 GB
Peripherals: Macintosh mouse and keyboard, Steam Controller (optional)

Its important to note that our minimum system requirements are based on a comprehensive knowledge of performance throughout the game. In short, we believe the above requirements are enough horsepower to fuel late game and large maps at acceptable frame rates, and we've set the default settings on every Mac for optimal performance within the game itself. Know that turning up any of the default settings will likely result in decreased performance.

We want to give a special shoutout to the fine folks at Firaxis and especially our friends at 2K QA. Without a great deal of cooperation and support from these partners, the Mac release near the Windows release is impossible.

Just want to say that I finished a game on a standard map with the 6770M graphics card (2011 15 Macbook Pro) and it ran pretty well. No crashes, freezups, or extreme lags. Late game the turns took a while but I'm not sure if that was related to my mac or a general issue (it appears turns take a while on PC too). Thank you Aspyr for a great port!

Had anyone try to increase perfomance by installing graphic drivers directly from Nvidia ? Not using default drivers which Apple provides with macOS updates ?

I read somewhere that in macOS updates, Apple updates GPU drivers only for "current" generation or for Macs which are couple years old. and that is big amount of legacy cards which company doesn't care about.

As I mentioned earlier i have iMac late 2012 with GeForce GTX 680 MX . (so it's a "legacy" card)

on nVidia website i found drivers for my card for macOS Sierra 10.12.1. So nvidia released this drivers couple of days ago.

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

What are you thoughts? Have you ever try to use web- drivers for your Macs? Thanks

I always use the web drivers and have not had a issue that is what they make them for ;). Hence why I posted em a few pages back :). Macs shipped gpu drivers are years behind anything nvidia releases.

I'm getting the same error as you. Crashes at load screen. I made a ticket a while ago with Aspyr but no response yet. Have you found a work around?

It works well with a hackintosh i7 4770 16gb ram and a GTX750. Not some fancy fps, but decent to play

It runs well on my Early 2015 MBP (I use the Imac for gaming though) but the heat readings are crazy - with the temps running at or near 100C (and spiking higher).

I have a question regarding Civilization VI. I was wondering if these requirements would work for Civ VI on the new mac book pro 2016.
2.0GHz Processor
256GB Storage
2.0GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
8GB 1866MHz memory
256GB PCIe-based SSD1
Intel Iris Graphics 540
Two Thunderbolt 3 ports

Thank you.

Quick question for all the mac users - Are you getting better/same/worse performace between full screen and windowed execution?

Well, the game runs fine on my windows boot camp partition, so that's sort of a work around. Not sure if it's relevant, but the path given in the error IS NOT where the game was actually installed. "Civ6.app" does not exist on my Mac, "Civilization VI.app" does. Not sure if it's relevant...

I have a late model 2015 MacBook Pro. The graphics resolution in Windows boot camp is much higher than in OS 10. It that what others have found at well?
