Unable to find Config.ini

So I am unable to find the config.ini file for Civ 6.

I've looked in the C:\Users\Name\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI folder and found nothing and I looked in every other folder there as well and found nothing.

I've looked in my Install Folder as well and found nothing.

I've even used the search command to find it to no avail.

So...where is it? Anyone know?

Looks like it is now the "AddOptions.txt" file

It is the AppOptions.txt, not AddOptions.txt. Refer to Csay12's post.

I was having a problem that if after going to game options, you change something, click apply, then go back, all options get reverted to defaults. I fixed it, doing this:

Go to options, change anything, click apply, then click RESTORE DEFAULTS on the bottom left. It will say that this will be applied after game restart. When you then relaunch the game, it will recreate all the settings.ini files, and from now on, you are able to save your settings normally.

Yes, this is an old thread. However...

If you have installed CIV 6 but can't find the file This PC/Documents/MyGames/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/ folder you likely have Controlled Folder Access turned on (or some App or Win 10 update turned it on without your knowledge. This setting prevents CIV 6 from installing the above file folder in order to store your game data and saves.

You can turn it off but at your own risk as there are some security issues involved with allowing programs to automatically write files and file folders to your C: drive.

To turn it off go to Start, PC Settings, Update & Security, Windows Security, Virus & Threat Protection. In the box that opens up scroll down to Virus & Threat Protection Settings, click Manage Settings, scroll down to Controlled Folder Access, click Manage Controlled Folder Access, toggle the Controlled Folder Access switch to Off. Close the menus.

Start a new game and save it. Check Documents/MyGames. File folder Sid Meier's Civilization VI should be there. Open the folder. It should have all the missing data in it, including your your Saves folder and the AppOptions.txt file.

Hello I know this is a slightly old thread but I just installed Civ 6 and Im having the same problem. To select any of the buttons it's way off and I can't click on anything to change the resolution in game. When I go into my C:\Users\Matt_\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI there is no file there. There is no config.ini, no AppOptions.txt, nothing. I've verified integrity of game files as well. I even verified integrity of game files and it didnt generate the file. Not sure what to do.

On linux I found it on: Personal file/.var/app/com.ValveSoftware.Steam/.local/share/aspyr-media/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/AppOptions
