Really bad workaround for me:
1. Save at the very end of turn (right before crash)
2. Hit next turn (game crashes to desktop)
3. Restart, and reload game saved
4. Hit next turn -- gets to next turn
5. Play entire turn, save at end of turn.
6. Hit next turn. Game crashes to desktop.
7. Go to step 3 (i repeated this about 5 times, but every new turn crashed)
Could keep repeating reload -- but would be really slow to play that way. I think this bug is related to the transition from current turn to next turn - you hit next turn and it starts moving stuff, then realizes you have more to do, so then it makes you do more stuff. That seems related to the crash somehow.
Tried all kinds of stuff, windowed mode, lowering graphics, everything, still happens. Would be nice if they
Also tried declaring war, same problem so guess i let this game sit.
I had this problem as well on one of my better save games. It kept crashing on the same turn due to some unknown error. This seems to have been fixed in the most recent Summer 2017 update for Civ VI. I was able to continue past the "glitched turn." Fingers crossed I encounter no more of these game breaking glitches. Now we can all play just "one more turn." Happy gaming!
Glad the patch fixed your issue. Seems to have caused mine. :(
Super frustrating as I'm <10 turns away from winning.
UPDATE: After getting a chance to play today, it seems the problem is still occurring, only about 25 turns later or so. Not sure what the glitch is this time, but it is once again crashing on the same Civ as it did the first time. Disappointing, as I was looking forward to finishing my game. Oh well, maybe the next update will solve it...
I found it by revealing the map(https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=804400692) and observing the game for few previous moves. I've not fixed the things just yet, one possibility is to mess with a save file and remove the settler from barbarians, but saves are binary and I still don't know the formatting, the other way would be to mess with Lua and XML. Well, I could report a bug but do not expect quick reaction and do not know where to report it to:)
But i found that this problem was caused by th AI of some Nation. So what i usually do in my games when this happens is, i first turn of the Auto Save option, and then i declare war on a random nation. I dont know why but this changes the coarse of the game and the thing that causes it to happen don't happen so for me it worked .
-In your games library, right click on civ 5 and select "properties"
-click on "set launch options"
-type in the following in the quotation marks (but dont type the quotation marks): "-high"
This should have fixed the isue, it sets civ 5 to run on high priority. Apologies if this doesnt work for you, but it worked fine for me :D
Add me to the list of people who played 350+ turns into the game only to have an unavoidable crash. The first time it happened, I found one of my cities was 1 turn away from making a settler. I cleared the production and IT DIDN'T CRASH! I played a few more turns, then crashed again. I haven't gone back in to see who's about to produce something now. Unplayable this way.
