I am kinda new to Civilization. How do I find iron? I never had much trouble ending up with iron in Civ 5.

In my last game I had to go looking for it. I found 3 iron deposits on another continent that was mostly desert. Luckily there was some other luxury resources between my cities and the iron so I started building towards the iron.

Strategic resources now only requires 2 copies(1 for cities with Encampment district) to recruit infinite number of the units that require them.

So it's not as easy to find them, but if you can get just 1 source, you're good to go(through trading, citystate etc)

Iron can only be found on hills in Civ 6. It can definitely be hit or miss to find.
With the expansions, iron production has changed. Now you get 2 per turn per resource worked, but you need large amounts of iron to maintain an army with iron-requiring units.

Suffice to say, I was very confused as to why I was sent to the Civ 6 discussion board after clicking on the "2 new comments" notification... Well, thanks for the help anyways (not that I need it anymore)!
