Is research too fast?
I kinda felt this with CiV5 too.

It takes 10+ turns to build a building.
It takes so many turns and thousands of years to move armies across a map.

But it seems like every other turn I am researching more tech with more things to build at a faster rate than I can build them.
I'm not specced out for science, if I was this would be way worse.

I'm not expecting to build everything. But if each tech gives me 3-4 things to build; and I can barely finish 1 building every 4 techs I research then what gives? And that's not even including ground units. Sometimes I'll finished several technologies before I've made a small border defense force.

Researching is certainly blindingly fast, you can get to the industrial era ever so quickly and so easily, the tech tree makes very little sence where Civ 5 forced you to research a lot of things for one thing and that research would take longer and longer the further in the era's you would get.

Okay so it isn't just me. I hope the make a mod that doubles Science and Culture requirements. Or a more extensive tech tree.

Thought I would update on this, played the game on Marathon, and I'm still researching things faster than I can even build them.

Completely agree! Maybe in future will be available mod for research or something like this.

Science goes far too fast. Probably because of the Eurekas.

I unlock new districts and buildings faster than i can build them in my cities. Not very fun.

Space exploration in the 16th century and i was doing a conquest game. It is really unbalanced. also i had a constant number of turns for research regardless of era. Always 6-9 turn and half with boost the whole game.

Same goes for the civics tree. I'm not even focusing on culture and have to research Globalisation and Social Media again and again and again. It get's really annoying especially when the research time is like 2 or 3 turns and needs to be reseleccted. At least the future technology in Civ 5 didn't need any micromanagment.

It depends on how you play, focus on production and money and it'll take a lot longer to research tech. Where as if you build a lot of campuses...you get the idea :P

Yes I felt this with Civ 5 as well - no way to build everything or dwell in any era. You seem to spend ages in the Stoneage then it all speeds up and you literally hurtle through everything else. They do need to balance this in these games. It does get rather annoying having to choose a new tech every other turn. Makes the later tech tend to mean nothing.

Creating such a mod was extremely easy on Civ5 (literally a single line of XML per game speed setting).

I haven't taken a look at the moddable files for Civ6 yet, but it's likely to be just as easy. Hopefully they enable the Workshop soon.

We are beta testers all

Come on, it is not that bad. Certainly though it runs faster than it should. Normally QA should spot these problems though.

May I also that it takes too long to build a district?

The district production costs scales with number of techs or civics researched (whichever is higher). The formula seems a bit too punishing though, the costs skyrocket too much.

The best way to fix this (at least partially) is to remove "science from population" crap. It makes no sence whatsoever. More does not mean smarter, geez
