Can't find oil on the whole map in CIV 6
I already launched a sattelite and can see all on both continents. It's the current year 2000 and i still can't find any oil. What am i doing wrong?

Ok apparently you have entire continents without any oil on them.... Fair enough.... Very realistic game CIV 6, i like the whole Disney aesthetics of it and fairy tale mythical oil barrels.

I agree. Have a HUUUGE continent. ZERO oil on it. There is an oil in the middle of the ocean though that I found xD

Abundant resources. Never start without it, lol.

There ought to be some oil resources at sea.

Happened to me too once, its unfortunate but thats RNG for you. Had a similar problem with coal once, only 2 available on the entire world map and right behind my nice Chinese neighbour who didnt like me much. He liked me less when I wiped him off the map, though :D

This is an idea I can get behind.

But yeah, strategic resources can be very finicky in this game. And by finicky I mean stupid. Whole world with less than 2 oil, that's just stupid.

I don't think launching the satellite will reveal all resources as such, unexplored regions of the map won't show resources until it has been explored with a unit.

I'm currently playing a huge map and have launched a satellite, but the unexplored regions where I haven't sent a unit yet are showning no resources whatsoever on this map.

It may simply be that you need to explore more with a unit to reveal sources of oil.

oil seeems to be the rarest material in CIV VI. I hjad a game where I found two in the artic ocean and had to build trash cities just to get them. Those trash cities eventually got to 4 pop. LOL

Tbf, any area with 3 pop potential (a total of 3 food from 3 worked tiles) should be created if you're playing optimally. At that point they can build a full commercial district, which is worth the settler cost to a certain timeframe (not worth it late game obviously). Ahh, the tedium of being forced wide after being forced into tall in 5 lol.

i know... i know... in my first game i only built 1 settler and then liberated a few others and their cities. Why make cities when someone else does it for you!!!!

how obviously does gameplay > realism have to present itself before people understand why they arent in game design?

Looks like launching satellite won't reveal all resources, archae. sites and such in your unexplored area.
But a curious question. If a certain kind of resource is not available on the whole map, would I able to get it if I'm the Suzerain of Hattusa with 3+ envoys?

Mate, everything is too rare. It's an easy fix for the devs.

There are a couple of Great People options as well. I know for a fact one gives you an oil for free.

Could also be underneath AI-controlled cities. It probably starts with full knowledge of where they are, as it did in Civ V.
