War weariness active long after last war
So I eliminated my only rival at the continent during a war that lasted for probably 200+ years. My cities had around -5 amenities for War Weariness during the war, but it's still going on, and it's probably 100+ years since the war ended..

Bug?

I experience the same problem. I was at war for a long time (France refused peace for a thousand years), so my war weariness increased continously to -6 in my capital, and some in my other cities.

After a long time, I captured their capital, and finally France agreed to peace (ceding Paris as well). And now I have been at peace for more than 20 turns, and my war weariness even increased from -6 to -7 in the mean time (was checking constantly to see if it would drop).

Same problem for me. i nukes a city on the same day i made peace. instandly throwing the war weariness to the max (or i assume max cause all my 7 city's were at 0 amenities).
Not been at war with a single civ or city state for over 30 turns and its still at the max.
Meanwhile all my cities work at super slow rates (170 turns for a unit) while spawning boatloads of barbarians.
My goldincome is far in the negarive making even more unhappyness.
Thankgod i could turn the civic on that gives no weariness while fighitng in your own territory but that didnt help at all.

After about 30 turns i gave up and started a new game.
Gotta say for my first civ 6 game ever it was really disapointing for it to end this way.

I eventually saw my War Weariness reduce again. I reckon it was 30-50 turns after the peace had been declared (can't remember, and it was a multiplayer game, so I am not sure if I can verify it through saves?)

Ditto, but it took forever. Probably 300+ years..

i'm also having the same issue, the war weariness keep on increasing eventho i don't have a war with any other civ/cs.

my last war are already over for 20+ turns.
and now one of my city are revolting, the war weariness increasing from 6 to 8.

it's another civ capital and their leader is already been wipe out

Would be helpful if they added some texts to timed bonus/penalties ("...for x more years").

I have a similar issue and I also started a discussion about it.

The difference seems to be that in your case, weariness did not decrease after the war.

In my case there was no weariness after the war, it just started out of nothing after 80 turns.

posting the same answer, hopefully people on this thread also find this solution helpful.

i think i figure out how to remove the bug (for now)

i was taking a break and quit the game.
now, after i load again my save files, the war wariness bug is gone.

i got 2 cities with -6 and -8. now both of them gone.
after you took their city/capital. it's better to save and load the game again if the bug occurs.

edit:
after you reload, it won't be gone immediately, you need to end turn at least once to see the changes

That is really interesting. I'm pretty sure I exited the game once or twice before completing it as well - maybe that was the reason it finally dissappeared. I will try it next time.. Thanks!

I am suffering the same issue in a Multiplayer-Game with friends, i was at war with India (they tried to spread their religion all over my empire which i could not tolerate) after capturing 3 Cities from Ghandi and then making peace, my War-weariness never decayed over time, in fact in some cities it even increased, but i've never been at war ever since ... also a captured Indian City still has the "Occupied no growth penalty on it" but i captured this city at least 40 turn ago ... it drives me crazy ...

when you make peace. be sure to trade "cede" for those cities.
or just make trade afterwards (but i never tried it before, i always trade when making a peace deal). I don't know how much it will cost to cede it after the war.

I'm confirming this worked for me. I had conquered 2 civs and after 50 turns the war weariness wouldn't go down, and had gone up on a couple cities.

I saved the game, and completely closed Civ6. I reloaded the game and the weariness went away after a turn.

Yup I just noticed that today as well - it seems war weariness either goes down REALLY slowly or not at all. It drove me crazy trying to figur eout why one city revolted despite oodles of ameninties and sur eenough 280 years since the last war it still had -5 war weariness.

This just worked for me. I had about -18 war weariness in my 6 cites total. This lasted about 20 or so turns after my war ended. I saved my game, quited to desktop, relaunched the game, and loaded my game.

It was still there and I was sad.....BUT after one turn I now had 0.

Thanks Zervo! I hope this fix this bug pretty quickly. It is quite lame.

This mechanic really seems like it need a rework, crippling war weariness that doesn't decay is downright game breaking. Whether it's a bug or working as intended, it needs to be fixed.
