Units Not Healing
I've played a game for around 150 turns now, and suddenly my units won't heal when I tell them to rest or whatever. Up until now, my units have healed normally when I tell them to rest. Two horsemen have stayed at the same health level for the past 10 turns, despite repeatedly telling them to rest.

Am I missing something?

Having the same problem with knights

Having the same problem with tanks. Also aggravated that the game makes you jump through so many hoops just to build units. So many annoying things in the game. No fun to play at all.

I think I figured out - it's a cavalry thing. I noticed I had 0 horses when trting to heal my knights, but when I suddenly gained back horses on a turn, my knights were healing again.
Not sure if that's an intended mechanic, but that's what happened.

It is intended, you cannot heal your unit if the strategic resource is missing that is used to make that unit

Yup, for better or worse, that is working as intended. If you dont have the resource your unit cannot heal.

That makes sense, but it is yet another frustrating aspect of gameplay.

Why do you find it frustrating? It's kind of logical that you can't maintain a unit if you don't have the resources, right?

so that is why my swordsmen would not heal.
I could not get Iron.
that is a... um... game changer. ;-p

It'd be a lot less frustrating if the game actually told you when it was happening, and why, instead of letting them just sit there fortified forever.

Thank you, and I bet there is nothing in the documentation to point that out. If you are trading for iron, and other civs are mad, then they won't trade.

Useless units. sigh

Well, here is a new strategy then. Lend your enemies strategic resources and then pull them back. lol

And another issue created by this. There is a God Of Healing. If you choose the God Of Healing pantheon do they still heal? :)

Knights don't use Horses, they use Iron. So that's odd that Horse resource would affect your ability to heal Knights.

Can't remember now but it was either a different cavalry unit and I goofed my post or it was actually the iron resource that I was lacking to heal.
