Renaming Cities
I'm probably just completely stupid, but how do you rename cities? I assume you must be able to, but I've searched online about how to do it and looked through the civolopedia and can't find anything. I've clicked every button and icon vigorously and nothing. Is it even possible to do it or have they removed it for some reason? I've only attempted this in multiplayer.

if they don't fix it soon I'll get a refund. How's that for important? You arrogant kid.

Sorry to say this but hes right, i would much rarther they spend time fixing bugs and adding "real" features than them messing around adding silly little things like re-naming cities(i dont think i ever re-named a city in Civ V).

Also if you bought your game through steam you best get a refund now .... I really dont see a update being released within the next two weeks.

The real point is that adding a rename feature and 'fixing the AI' are not comparable tasks. Adding the first takes literally a few minutes (provided they have their stuff in order), while fixing AI issues can take a lot of effort (and often causes other AI issues as a result). Similarly adding 'more content' takes a while.

Personally I have almost exclusively played multiplayer so far (4/6 games) and so tweaking the AI would have made no difference to more than 70% of my experience, whereas I used to find renaming cities a right laugh in civ 5.

I literally just quit a game because I couldn't rename my cities. The second English city is "Stoke-upon-Trent"? Not only does that make no sense historically or culturally, they didn't even get the name right!

Maybe they were fixing more important things. Would you rather not be able to rename your city or have the AI randomly denounce you?
What? They do randomly denounce you. I was called a warmonger and I'd never fought a war.

Was it by Gorgo, by any chance?

Jesus, this seemingly simple question escalated into nuclear war very quickly

It's not an "issue" and I doubt they said they will be changing it. You can't rename cities because some of the achievements are specific to certain cities. The TMNT achieve in New York is great, I'll never get it but it made me laugh just seeing it.

Renaming cities is important to a lot of us. Who are you to say otherwise?
In fact, I'm not playing till they fix it, and if they don't fix it soon I'll get a refund. How's that for important? You arrogant kid.

last played 28. october. dirty liar. got no refund and continued playing the game unable to name cities. yeah, you are a dirty liar, remember that the next time you look into the mirror.

Count me in as someone with strong affinity for renaming my cities who was shocked and disappointed to learn that this flexibility is gone. (....but hopefully on the way?? Is this confirmed or just assumed?)

On an Earth-clone map, I change city names to match their locations. This helps me remember where they are and improves my knowledge of geography.

On generated maps, I like to give city names like Forest Island, German Hills, Mount Copper, Battle Bay. I find it much easier to remember and keep track of everything going on. It gives me a stronger connection to my empire and a better experience.

On massive maps, I depend on the city name to record the order they were founded and their location: 05_Beta_SW or #26_02North_13East.

I hope this simple but impactful feature returns soon.

For what it's worth, you can use Pins now. And it has been said by the devs they wanted this to be in the base game but a bug happened or something?
Either way city renaming should be returning in the next patch.
