do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device - steam client service - User Account Control
When ever I start the game, a User Account Control popup comes up and asks "do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device"

The app in question is steam client service.

I don't think I am running steam as administrator.

How can I disable the popup every time I start the game while not disabling the UAC or tuning the UAC level down to an unsecure level?

I don't think you can. If your going to have UAC set at that level. Your going to see that message everytime you start a program. You have told UAC to ask permission to run a program. That is what it is doing.

But running Civ V doesn't show that UAC popup. Is there a reason why launcing Civ VI shows the popup but launching Civ V doesn't?

Well actually it is not protecting from the running of a program. It is protecting from a program that is trying to modify a file. Maybe Civ 5 does not try to modify any files when it starts.

UAC is really badly designed. Since you can't whitelist an application, users are getting annoyed and at one point won't even bother checking which application is asking for permission.

Ok, thanks.

Lots of people just turn UAC off. As it is super annoying. But then if you all the sudden have a rogue virus that is modifying files then you won't get a warning. And nothing will stop it.But if you have agood antivirus scanner you should never have that problem anyway.

Open up the game folder (right click on it, Properties > Click 'Local Files' > Click the 'Browse Local Files' button), and delete the _CommonRedist folder.

Tried deleting the _CommonRedist folder, but the UAC issue is still there. Assigned a bunch of files the 'Run as Administrator' property too (maybe not the right one?). Wish there was a solution to this issue
