Game will not save?
I've tried saving my game multiple times but the load game screen is still empty? It will not let me save and it is not autosaving even though the option is on?

Had same issue. Check your anitvirus program. I use bitdefender and civ6 was added to its blocked list. Removed it from list and can now save.

That should NOT be necessary - saves are never put in any protected folders. Someone dropped the ball.

Having the same problem, unable to save at all, not tried yet but if you have to run game in admin mode in order to save then...wtf.

THIS WORKED FOR ME...

Thank you for updating me on your situation. If the extensions were the issue, then simply editing the extensions would resolve the issue. However, if you go into the file directory and find that there are no files created at all then you might not have permissions. Don't worry, we can help with that!

•Please create a new "My Games" and "Sid Meier's Civilization VI" folder under "My Documents" to allow the game a place to save file.
•After creating the "My Games" folder, right click the folder and select Properties.
•Select the Security tab
•Click Edit
•Click Add
•Enter your full e-mail address
•Click Check Name
•Do this with both "My Games" and "Sid Meier's Civilization VI" folders
•Verify that your email account has write privileges those folders by starting a new game and attempting to save

I hope that helped! If you have any additional issues or questions, please let me know.

SOLUTION!

I found the whole web and after 3 hours of trying and searching, I found a solution. Stupid Win10 Update is guilty....once more. -.-
Finally figured out the issue.
Windows Defender has got some new feature called 'Controlled folder access', and even though I had white listed CIV this feature had to be turned off for it to work. I can now save my settings and save games!

OMG...i was almost freaking out about that.

I am on Win 10 1809. There is a new Ransomware protection in Windows Security>Virus and threat protection>Ransomware protection. I had to turn off the Controlled folder access since I could not find the executable that ran Civ 6.

I downloaded this like yesterday. Never had any trouble with my saved games.

Go to your Steam library, find the game listed there, and right-click it. In the context menu that pops up, select "Properties". In the window that opens, go to the "Local Files" tab and click the "Browse Local Files..." button. This will open a window to the location in which the games files are stored, which you can use to find the path to that location, which you may then be able to use to create an exception for your anti-virus program.

Try to save a game so that windows defender block it then go to allow an app through controlled folder access press add an allowed app then press recently blocked apps I believe you'll find it in this list.

a pretty lame idea and absolutely bad programming to require. Administrative mode is dangerous to the system due to malware

- Had exactly this issue - changed everything else for permissions, firewall, antivirus, manually created all the folders in MyGames etc - it was the Controlled Folder Access. Thank you so so much
