Usually restarting you computer is enough. If you already tried, you might have to redownload the game.

redownload and install, would definitely take not much longer than it has taken you to post this and wait for answers, unless you are using DSL

Every time I've had a disk write error, it's turned out to be the harddrive. I'd recommend using WD diagnostic tool or windows disk scan to detect and correct errors where it's possible. U can also change the installation directory between the different games on steam to another disk. After I got several disk write errors via steam installation I moved the directory to the ssd instead which solved the problem.

if your still having issues then comtact WD and also consider switching from using WD to someone like seagate. My problem with WD has always been that dynamic overlay bay that they use. WD is not a very reliable company I have always had problems with them. I use either maxtor or seagate for my HD.

I've had WD for maybe 15 years and the only ones I've had problems with are the cheap "Green" series which are only meant for pure storage. The "Black" series are very reliable.

1) restart your computer
2) run steam as an admin
3) check your anti virus isn't blocking the installation

FWIW. I had a disk write error associated with a specific file (an appmanifest .acf file). I went to my install directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps) and deleted all the temp files and .acf files (not folders). After doing so, when I tried to play the game again, it updated something and created new temp files. In my case, I think it had something to do with going from DirectX 11 to DirectX 12.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
