Main Menu Music IS NOT IN Soundtrack?
UPDATE:
Ladies and Gentlemen, it has been confirmed the Main Menu and Opening Cinematic music is NOT in the "Official Soundtrack" that comes with the Deluxe Edition. It is sad and you can join the discussion about it below.
For those like me who still MUST have that amazing audio, the artist is "Christopher Tin" and the song/album is called "Sogno di Volare ("The Dream of Flight")". It can be found at major digital audio retailers like iTunes and Amazon. There are other online places to aquire it mentioned in the thread.

ORIGINAL POST:
Just started playing and the main menu music was quite good in my opinion (had a choir in it, almost sounded religious), and I got the deluxe edition that came with the soundtrack, but looking through track list I only see era themes per civilization. No "Main Menu" track or anything non-civ specific. Anyone know if the main menu music was left out of the soundtrack (which would be infuriating), or was it an actual civ era theme and just didn't know which one?

I have only logged in once so far, so I don't know if main menu audio cycles through other songs, but I don't think that is how Civ V and BE were, so I doubt they would do that now.

Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Im feeling kinda slightly peeved with the soundtrack.I listened to the british tracks today and all 4 of them are the same scarborough fair song, just slightly different each time from certain eras in the game.Didnt bother with the rest as they are no doubt remixes of the same track. But yeah id like the menu music in there, that would be great.

It was intended that way. The songs get "newer" with the same underlying tune as you progress through the game.

I am beyond pissed now. Firaxis deleted the mp3s and replaced them with ogg files. WTF!

Not that I care that much one way or the other, but I got lucky that I decided to copy the mp3 files elsewhere before they replaced them with the oggs.

At least those of us that bought the Deluxe now have a real 25th Anniversary soundtrack.

You can buy the main music separetely. The Composer is Christoper Tin (he also wrote the title track for Civ4). It's already in iTunes or Amazon. That guy is a genius! Christopher Tin - Sogno di Volare ("The Dream of Flight") (Civilization VI Main Theme)

You shouldn't have to though, when you already paid 80 Dollars (American). That should be included. I am sure all of our game purchases have more than paid the game company back for the rights they had to secure for the music from Mr. Tin.

Exactly.

When you "buy a soundtrack" of anything, you shouldn't have to also buy the main, core piece of music in that thing as an additional purchase.

I have no doubt there are logical, legal reasons behind why "The Civ VI song" is not on the Civ VI soundtrack, but the fact of the matter is that whether it was Firaxis, 2K, or Mr. Tin himself, someone along the line said "Screw what the fans want" and made a greedy decision.

I have no doubt that it has something to do with the fact that the Civ VI Composer is listed as Geoff Knorr, but Christopher Tin created the theme. Also, in an interview on YouTube about creating the music, Mr. Tin stated that he was asked to do it very "last minute", so due to Geoff Knorr doing the other game music and Christopher Tin doing the theme, the artists' licensing made it so that both could not be on the soundtrack (purely my personal speculation).

Like I said, it may be "logical" but does not make it right. Steam or someone should have been more specific about what exactly we were getting ("Music of the Civ VI Civilizations" for example). Stating we were getting "the game soundtrack", but not including the main music from the game, is very misleading, thus our anger.

OR if someone (artist or publisher) made the tracks available for free for those who purchased the soundtrack, though not ON the actual sountrack, and possibly through a 3rd party, THAT would have been justifiable, and the only gripe would be that your collection isn't as organized as you'd like.

But that is not the case. Didn't realize that much like some games, now even the soundtracks are going (PTW) "Pay to get the best stuff". I feel like the soundtracks are adding microtransactions.

There could be a complicated series of licensing issues. Many of the tracks in the entire soundtrack - which is pushing 12 hours worth of music - are not original compositions, but different arrangements of existing songs. For instance, Tico Tico is in there, so is the Seikolos Epitaph (although I doubt anyone has copyright on the latter as it's 2000 years old!)
Making it available for free on YouTube is quite different to selling it as part of the game.
I also would have liked to have the entire OST, but as a composer I know that there can be many complications when publishing non original compositions.

Yup, and the live version is cool, too! I mean the entire soundtrack, all those extra tunes you hear whilst playing. They are all availble on Youtube in 4 videos of 2 to 4 hours each.
I actually shudder at the incredible work to assemble and record 11 plus hours of music! There are some really interesting versions of existing songs in there, too, so I don't think it's just been music that's been bought for the game. It definitely sounds as if everything is an original recording, not just the original compositions. Must've taken one to two years for that gig!

Don't be so upset just go download the mp3s for free somewhere. You paid extra money to the artists who make the game, money well spent :)

What do you guys actually do with the sound tracks? Do you guys listen to it in your car or something? Seriously. I think this was the first game I've bought that came with a ST. I mostly bought the Delux for the future DLC's, and because I loved Civ V

Game soundtracks are perfect for when you're doing homework/other projects, since it's designed to be in the background. Last week I was doing a project while playing the Starbound OST and it was one of my most relaxing times doing coding in ages.
