Hey, I pre-ordered from GMG and got two codes. One being the Aztec unlock, and one being the actual game. If you bought it from another site like me, check your emails again just incase, If you bought it directly from steam, I'm sorry I can't help.

Bump; Had similar issue, I'm running windows 8, game would not launch at all, tried many things. For me vc_dist and directx wouldn't update auto- Here is manual process:

browse local game files by right click civ VI in library, navigate to ---

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Binaries\Win64Steam\CivilizationVI

and try manual launch.
if you recieve error like XINPUT1_3.DLL not found:

Install / Re-install latest revision of directx
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

If you have error Api-ms-win-crt-runtime-L1-1-0.dll

Try manually launching the vc_dist for 2010 / 2015 @
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\_CommonRedist

running those should install/repair necessarily, but for 64 bit windows here is a direct link

i dont had the aztek pack....now i have it...ty for this...but i cant open civ 6 ....

Kidnap, do you have a 32bit pc or a 64bit one? Someone with more knowledge can shed some light on this, but you might need 64bit to run CivVI. Can anyone help them with this?
