can only play game on mute right now.
also, changing format to 48000hz hasn't made it better.
also, noting that turning on civ iv mutes all other audio on pc even when minimised
why can't i play music AND civ iv?!??!?
My problems were:
- mild static in game
- very bad static when game music was turned to audible levels
- audio for cutscenes leader scenes and quotes was ultra quick like it was being played on fast forward.
- mild chopping in cinematic
- extreme lag in cinematic (sound was ahead of the video.)
By following the instructions provided above I changed my audio quality from studio quality to CD quality and this completely fixed all the audio issues I had. Thanks again for the fix guys.
If you have a different issue or this fix does not work for you, you have my sympathy. Hopefully you find a fix soon. I felt very bad when I was unable to enjoy this game before I found my fix.
For now I will simply go without the voiceovers as doing that is not such a good idea for my speakers
As of right now there's a bug in the game with audio. Changing the sound quality from 48000 24bits to 16bits does help out with some of the problems people are having. HOWEVER people who are having other problems with audio that is not connected to the changing channel frequence. They're working on a hot fix to repair a lot of bugs that players are facing. Takehitsu If you could explain exacatly whats happening with your audio. Like does your frames drop during the time of the audio problem or is it just certin civ players.
Are you muting your audio from inside the game settings? Or from your Computer settings?
Anytime after the Initial meeting I can hear no vocal audio the music continues I dont notice any change in frame rates although I did not have a ticker in the top to keep track of it at this point I will turn that on today to see if I notice a differance or not.
I had the same problem, this fixed it for me.
Have an audio software that came with my headphones called Sound Blaster XFi3, under Advanced Settings the Speakers/Headphones Configuration the program had been set to Surround.
Change it to Stero took care of all the problem.
