A Note for Windows 8 Users

Attention Windows 8.1 x64 Users:

During development and testing, it’s come to our attention that there are some very important Windows KB updates for this version of the Operating System. Instead of including the 800MB for all users, we instead wrote this supplemental information Article.

How to check if you have the KB installed

If you keep up-to-date with your Windows Updates you should be all set! But, in case you haven’t, you can check if this is installed when you go into "Add Remove Programs" in Windows 8.1. Along the left side, there’s a feature to view your "Installed Windows Updates." This list is pretty long, but if you are able to see KB2919355 (800 megs) and KB2919442 (about 10 megs), then you’re good to go!

Where do I download these?

If you don't have these, here are the Microsoft links for the two System Updates we are referring to.

NOTE: Even though the KB number is newer, this one should be installed first

Mine is Windows 8.1 x64. But I cannot start the game. I thought this would be helpful, but I found I have installed both KB updates.

I can´t install KB2919442 , the other one i´ve got already. It keeps `searching for updates on computer`

ps:Would be nice if the updates required to play the game are included in the instal.

i have all the updates installed. but the game is just not starting. it just goes into 'running' for 2 seconds and then goes back like nothing happened. whats going on?!

Just checking the optional windows updates and installing them (there were a few) worked for me.

Win 8.1 here, downloaded both updates and "The update is not applicable to your computer". Game won't start with or without them however, so what now?

Managed to install the small (10 MB) update, makes no difference, please, fix this.

i pre-ordered the deluxe edition and the game can't even start on launch day. how disappointing 2K games.
