Put one on top of the other :P

It only works with certain units and the amount of stacking is limited.

This comes later in the game with research. :wololo:

There are civic cards that let you combine units into Corps and Armies, and naval units into Fleets and Armadas.

Ah i see i try to stack warriors or slingshot but canmot..what research will unlock it?

You can link a support or civilian unit with a military one at the start. An example would be a warrior with a settler, builder, or Battering Ram. Later in the game you can take two of the same unit and make a corp, then later you can add another one to a corp to make an army.

You can never stack unlike combat units. Only alike combat units by merging into corps later in the game (and armies after that), or a combat unit and either a support or a civilian unit.

STACKING LIMITATIONS Until the Industrial era, only one of each type of unit class (combat, support, civilian, and trade) can end its turn in a tile – though a single combat unit with a support unit, and a single civilian unit can end their turn “stacked” in the same tile .

A unit may pass through another unit as long as it has enough movement to complete the full move, and does not end up on top of another unit of the same type . However, after researching the Nationalism civic, you will able to combine units .

Two military units of the same type will be able to combine to create a Corps, giving them +10 to their base Combat Strength . After researching Mobilization, three units of the same type may be combined into an Army, giving +7 to their base Combat Strength . Once a Corps or Army has been formed, the units may not be broken apart into individual units again . The experience and promotions of the highest experience unit is preserved when creating this type of formation, so it is beneficial to combine rookies with more experienced units . Naval units may also be combined into Fleets and Armadas .

How is this done?
I put 2 units of same type next to each other.
When i press "form corps" button on one unit the other is highlighted blue but nothing happens?

Just click on the highlighted blue tile (not the unit) and they combine on that tile

I'm sure you already figured that out by now but that might help someone else ;)

There are high level civics to build corps and armies.

By the way, Bug alert, if you put 2 tanks into a Corps and the build a 3rd Tank you will not get the bonus that requires having 3 tanks to boost that tech (I think it was Composites). This could be true of other units that get combined into a Corps that could boost a tech.

Is it just me or does this seem a very expensive way to make a slightly more powerful unit with the same hitpoints? I do not see the benefit of one unit worth 100%+17 over 3 units all 100% (basically 300%). An absolutely useless mechanic not worthy of ever using.

It is not something that you would want to do with every unit, but I think that it can be useful in the case of important units that are very experienced. For example, if you have a unit that has 4 or more promotions then it might be worth sacrificing two 0 xp units to make that one unit tougher, especially if it is a unit that is guarding a chokepoint or defending a key city.
